And while the beginning of the day celebrates what is done, the rest of the day celebrates what Elder can be and do.

Tomorrow we celebrate the Day of the Dead--a ceremony where a society pays homage to those who have passed, and planted their seeds in the lives of others. Our ancestors influence us and the lessons they have passed down throughout generations; however, not all lessons were the same. All were influenced by their time period and personal sense of morality. That influence was then conveyed to their child--or whoever was willing to listen. These stories are what provided us with culture.…

Testing will be wrapped up first thing this Friday morning, 4/14! At lunch time we will head to the park to eat a sack lunch (no heat-ups, please), to celebrate our School Spirit Day: "I Survived Testing Week", and practice for Field Day. This Friday's outing will replace the field trip previously scheduled for 4/21. Uniforms are not required and students are encouraged to wear camouflage apparel. Games, popsicles, and fun are on the agenda. Please feel free to join us if you'd like!…

As we grow older (65 years and over) and become senior citizens, our productivity is slowed, we retire and explore life in that way. It is during this time that we contemplate our accomplishments and are able to develop integrity if we see ourselves as…
Celebration of Discipline, by Richard J. Foster, is a comprehensive guide to spiritual disciplines. In this book, Foster addresses twelve main ones (meditation, prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, solitude, submission, service, confession, worship, guidance, and celebration), and shows how we can implement them in our lives. It is only through spiritual practices that we can move from superficial living into deeper lives. To balance our inward and outward lives and overcome our sin, we must first receive the inner righteousness which is a grace given from God. When we allow the Disciplines into daily practices, they allow God to come inside and bring an abundance of God into our lives. Overall, Celebration of Discipline is a true book every Christian ought to read. After having read this book, I am motivated to practice the spiritual discipline of prayer and fasting. According to Foster, prayer is very important because it takes us into perpetual communion with the Father and it is the central avenue for personal examination and change. I chose prayer because prayer was such a big part of my life and it brings positive outpourings in my life. Constant prayer allows me to get closer to God and love the people around me more. Without prayer, I have less tolerance for those I find hard to love, more concern with earthly things, feelings of disconnect with God that I love. In my life, I have never practiced fasting because of my health issues and disbelief in its power. However, Foster encourages me to pursue it as it can bring spiritual breakthroughs that will not happen in any other way. Focusing on those two disciplines, I hope that God can bring spiritual transformation in my life and help me find the true path to spiritual growth. Y, dXiJ(x(I_TS1EZBmU/xYy5g/GMGeD3Vqq8K)fw9…
School spirit is a common sighting at many public schools in the present day. But in most schools, administration puts a limit on school spirit in order to keep their school intact. They limit the school spirit because school spirit can create rowdy and anxious students that lose focus on their school work. With the proper amount of school spirit that is allowed, there could be a happy middle that benefits both administration and the school body. Even though school staff has the opinion that allowing an unlimited amount of school spirit will over-excite and disrupt the focus of the students, school administrators should begin to expand the allotted amount of school spirit because of the various benefits it would to the school body. The benefits include, but are not limited to, an opportunity to give the school body something to look forward to, give school pride, and supports extra-curricular activities.…

Filipino families traditionally visit cemeteries on November 1 or 2, to hold gatherings around the graves of their departed loved ones and lay out flowers and candles. Often the occasion is treated as a reunion or banquet, with families bringing food and drink and camping out all day or even overnight. It is an official, state-recognized holiday, so people get leave from school or work on these days.…

This poem is about High School children that began a march for a better education system on 16 June 1976. They had banners that showed their hatred at being forced to undertake 50% of their schooling through the medium of Afrikaans. They wanted the chance to freedom of spirit and speech. Police intervened trying to spread out the youth by means of teargas and live bullets. This resulted in a lot of lives being lost and South Africa made June 16th a public holiday, Youth Day.…
In many countries, Teachers' Days (or Teachers Day) are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honour them for their special contributions in a particular field area, or the community in general. The date on which Teachers' day is celebrated varies from country to country. Teachers' days are distinct from World Teachers' Day which is officially celebrated across the world on October 5.[1]…
