Memorials are very imperative and serve great purpose in life. Memorials represent and celebrate our history, our accomplishments, and and all the many people who we cared for that have passed. It is very important to remember our past so we can better our future. If people don’t remember what has happened before, then how are they supposed to know what to do or what not to do? How can they build on what we have if they don’t know what we already have?

Empire Style Old City Hall has been there since 1856. It was Boston’s first public statue of a person. This piece of art has been there for centuries. Not only is this statue representing history, it has now become history itself. Not only that, but it was one of Boston’s firsts. Meaning that this sculpture was something innovative that changed Boston because of it being there.
These are two other reasons why these commemoratives should be of importance to us.
Lastly, Fort Caroline is a monument in Jacksonville, Florida that serves the remembrance of all that have died there and our past. Before the United States had ownership of Florida it was claimed by Spain. France fought Spain there in 1562 in a struggle to take the territory. The war formed another monument called Saint Augustine, which was the first permanent European monument in the United States. A lot of men expired there from the
