Speech for School Captain
Good morning year 11 and teachers. For those who do not know me my name is............ I would consider it a great honour and privilege to be College Captain
The position of College Captain has several roles: 1. To help the standing of our school in the community 2. To represent the student body with the College and 3. To help provide pastoral care for students.
Briefly expanding on these:
St Scholastica’s is a fine College with an exceptional tradition of developing the whole person academically, personally, spiritually and socially. It is a modern Institution, but one with a proud history.
That means that the College learns from its past, understands the present, and continually adapts to meet the challenges of the future. One role of the College Captain is to represent the student face of the College in this continually changing situation, to parents and to the community.
To do this effectively the College Captain must understand and be fully supportive of the College’s history and aspirations as a valuable contributor to society. The second major role of the College Captain is to represent the interests of the student body to the College and to help ensure that the continual process of change (which I mentioned earlier) takes into account the needs and aspirations of the students themselves. Any problems, big or small, that get in the way of the students’ realising their goals and their potential, need to be understood by the College’s teaching and administrative staff, and all involved in the planning and the day-to-day running of the College. One of the key roles of the College Captain is to make sure that this interchange of communication can take place effectively.
And finally, but very importantly, the College Captain plays an important role in the pastoral care of the students. The College Captain must understand the pressures of school and community on students, and help be available to any student to help resolve any issues

The term captain is synonymous with the term leader. By definition, a leader is someone who is in an advanced position to take the initiative in order to go forth and show the way. A dance captain should be able to make intelligent and creative decisions quickly and efficiently. Being a dance team captain for the Mighty Marching Lions has so much more to do with choreography and precision. Because we are a part of a Christian marching band, our purpose and our duty to fulfill that purpose is ten times greater than that of a traditional marching band. Without God, we would not have this grand opportunity and because of that we have to do things differently than the world would. We as band members are all working towards a goal which is ministering and showing the world the power of youth through the will of God.…

Being relatively new to the world of higher education, I entertained many questions and misconceptions about the roles and responsibilities of community colleges. My principle question(s) was what is the purpose of a community college, what benefits do they provide to the community, where do I fit in and how can I be a great leader? Some of the answers I found were very simple, while others very complex and some are yet to be fully answered!…

From the time I was five years old to the time I turned sixteen, I've played soccer. My brother, being seven years older than me, always challenged me to lead my team even when I was young. As a result, I was in control of the team's defense when on the field. Come when I turned thirteen, I was made the captain of my competitive soccer team; My duty as captain entailed delegating on-field roles to my teammates and making sure they were playing the right positions. Also, It was my duty to read the on-field situation and change our game plan to best fit our style as we played. This created a sense of flexibility that has become engrained in my brain ever since. The role of captain may not sound very applicable to an on-campus leader, yet, I'd…
