Course Syllabus – SCM 305 Business Decision Making
Spring 2015, Wescoe 3140

Course Description:
This course is an introduction to decision making encountered in business and everyday life. The course covers selected tools in probability, statistics, economics, operations research, and operations management. We will apply these tools and principles to problems in financial management, marketing, operations, supply chain management, and quality management. We will also look at risk management in decision making and ethics in decision making.

Required Class Materials:
1. Text Book – Schaum’s Outline; Operations Management – Decision Making in Business
2. Decision Making in Operations Management, Walden, 2014
3. Class lecture notes and slides – posted to Blackboard
4. Case studies provided in class.

Course Requirements: Homework (10 assignments, 20 points each) 200 points Quizzes (10 quizzes, 20 points each) 200 points Exam I 200 points Exam II 200 points Exam III 200 points Optional Final Exam 225 points Total 1000 points

Grading Scale: The following grading scale will be used to determine the final grades.
A: 930 and above
A-: 900-929
B+: 880-899
B: 830-879
B-: 800-829
C+: 770-799
C: 730-769
C-: 700-729
D: 650-699
F: <650
Attendance: Attendance is mandatory and contributes to your final grade.
