I understand that this class, English 216, will require me to commit a significant amount of my time to complete assignments. It is through my own motivation that I’ll be able to assign this time and work productively within it. All grading practices were explained clearly to me in the syllabus and I am in agreement with all of them. Reading, listening, and observing everything that is given to me will also help me to use my time in a productive manner. Any questions or concerns I have can be sent through the appropriate channels so long as it is treated as a technical document. Any revisions I make are treated as final documents and graded as such. Communication, as well as being respectful…

This classes teaches you how to be successful in college and ways to do that. I've learned so many strategies from the On Course textbook. I was lacking in motivation, so I tried the formula for motivation and found my motivation level to be lower than I would like it to be. My value on my education was a 5. My expectation on my education to be a 5. And my motivation was a 25 which was very low. To improve my score and try to make it increase I set goals using DAPPS which is dating my goals, making them achievable, positive and personal, and specific. I also created my life plan. The life plan made me realize my dreams as a student and what my short term goals were. Setting goals using DAPPS really encouraged me and made me want to accomplish them. Dating my goals made it feel like a challenge and that made me want to go for it more. Achievable made me think that I can do this and that there's no way that I can't. A positive goal was easy for me to think of. Lastley, being specific made me visualize what the outcome of my goal will look like. Using the DAPPS made my motivation…

Many students go to college with the sole intention to get their degree, become employed, and earn a higher salary. Students with these intentions tend to struggle more throughout their college years. Students go to college because they obtain skills and characteristics that employers find desirable. These skills and characteristics also allow them to function in society. Making the leap from high school classrooms to college campuses can be difficult for many students simply because college professors expect so much more inside and outside of the classroom. Students who go to college are expected to be self-sufficient from the day they get there. At the collegiate level, students should come to class ready to participate, engage in the course…
