Sodapop In 'The Outsiders'
“The Outsiders” essay
Sodapop is the best character in the book “The Outsiders”, because he genuinely cares about everyone in the story. No matter what the task if the gang or a brother needed a favor or some assistance he was always there. He has that cool that everyone loves, and is just a good guy. He is one of those people that anyone would look at and say I could love that face the book even says “Soda is more handsomer than anyone else I know(Hinton 7).”
Sodapop cares about the outcome of everyone in the gang, and at home. He really took charge of the house once his parents passed away in the car accident.”Soda gave me a tearful grin- don't you start crying ,too. One bawl-baby in the family's enough. (Hinton, 176).” He makes sure everyone

When it came to family matters he would always be home when needed and would cook and help keep the house clean (mostly). But he was sort of like the alpha male of the family he would always take charge to make sure what needed to happen did, and what didn't need to did not. He kind of was the only parent that Ponyboy had, but he was also really the only person who genuinely cared about him besides Darry who didn't show his love for a long time. When Ponyboy was hurt and sick Soda was always by his side getting him food and medicine. When Darry was having a ruff day of had something like girl trouble on his mind it was always Soda to the rescue. This was all because he loved them both and cared for them. He also liked to keep things interesting for example as Ponyboy said “I can tell you one thing: if you've got a brother like Sodapop, you're never bored. (Hinton 173)”
Without Sodapop at the family’s side the brothers wouldn't have had much of a home, well being , or a lot of getting along, they would have lots more conflict and tension that would not be resolved. The house would be a wreck and so would Darry and Ponyboys relationship. They all love each other a lot but if Soda wasn't present half the time he probably come home to the house being on fire. Soda is like the frosting in a gingerbread house holding the whole household together, by supporting the

Darry is responsible enough to keep Pony here is why. “Pony, where have you been all this time?”he meant”Pony, you had me scared to death. Please be careful, because I couldn’t stand it if anything happened to you ”,(pg. 98) this shows that Darry cares for Ponyboy. Also says it like this because he wants Ponyboy to know that he doesn’t want him to get into trouble or split up. “I hate to leave you here by yourself, Ponyboy,”Darry said slowly.”Maybe I ought to take the day off ”(Hinton, pg. 112).…

Based on what I read, Dally is different from the rest of the Greasers because he is smart compared to the rest of the guys. Soda Pop thinks different though because he sees dally as a strong person. Soda Pop and Dally are both brothers so I'm guessing they have a strong relationship but, dont talk much since their parents…

The real main character of The outsiders is still Ponyboy. After all it seems like he wrote the book because of one full circle quote. “ When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home…” (Pg 1 and 180). In addition to having him write the book he is ultimately the main character because it is written from his point of view. For example, almost every line in the book has him thinking in it or describing something through his eyes. “I had walked down…” (Pg 31) or “...this church gave me a creepy feeling.” (Pg 67). All in all Ponyboy has changed as a character through the book and is indeed the main character.…

The Outsiders book is a great book that is action packed, joke filled, and great for imagination. In the book it shows the hardship of the “Greasers” lives versus the hardships of the “Socs” lives which were supposedly much easier. It also shows the thoughts that ran through Ponyboy's head as and after he was helping the kids safely out of the burning church. In the book, Sodapop looks the best by far. “Soda is handsomer than anyone I know (Hinton 7).” Johnny is just a scrawny little boy. Ponyboy has long greased back hair. “My hair is longer than a lot of boys (Hinton 1).” Darry looks tough and mean. Dally is hard,…

Ponyboy even told Sodapop “Darry doesn't love me” Sodapop said “yes he does but he is just not really good at showing it” and it was true Darry did not show how much he loved Ponyboy till when Johnny died. That is when Johnny told Ponyboy “stay golden Ponyboy, stay golden” and Ponyboy could not figure out what that meant till Johnny was gone. Once they lost Johnny they all fell apart especially Dally, “he was the glue at held us together” Dally…

When reading the beginning of the novel, Sodapop is a cheerful person. This character trait can be seen when Ponyboy tells the reader that “He’s always happy-go-lucky and grinning” (2). Ponyboy loves sodapop because he is a lot less firm than Darry. He is rarely ever angry. Another instance of Sodapop’s cheerfulness is when Ponyboy explains “I guess it’s because he’s always grinning so much himself” (8). Ponyboy was jumped by the socs and Sodapop finds…

Darry and Soda had different points of view on how to interact with their brother Ponyboy. On page 2, the books states, “Soda’s never hollering at me all the time the way Darry is, or treating me as if I am six instead of fourteen.” From this quote, the reader is told that Darry treats Ponyboy differently than Soda. It can be inferred that Darry is more strict with Ponyboy while Soda may not be as strict. On the other hand, “Soda’s always happy-go-lucky and grinning, while Darry’s hard and firm and rarely grins at all.” (The Outsiders, pg. 2) This quote shows another example of how Soda is different from Darry because it shows Soda being more joyful and relaxed, but Darry is more stern and not warm. Furthermore, the way both brothers treat Ponyboy demonstrates Hinton’s theme that family is there to support each other at all times because both brothers clearly care about Pony but show it in different…

Why should your brother, Pony boy, be able to live with you and Soda?" I asked. "Well," said Darry, "pony boy, could stay home with us and have more fun because he would be all lonesome in a foster home with kids he probably does not know." "Now why do you say he will have more fun with you all instead of foster care because some people he knows might be there?" I asked. "You will always have more fun with family because it is just a bond that you carry throughout life," Darry said. "Yeah," said Soda pop, "and foster care is not no fun anyway!" "That still does not tell me why he should stay with you and Soda pop instead of going to foster care," I said.…

In the novel it talks mostly about how the Greasers’ care for one another. They’ll be there to have each other’s back when they got jumped by Socs’. They’ll be there if one of them got in trouble with the police. They’ll always have each other’s back when they needed it the most. But I think that they care about Johnny the most. He was jumped really badly by the Socs’ and he was scared ever since. They always protected him when he was in danger. Darry, Ponyboy, and Sodapop provided food and shelter for him when his parents were fighting because he was sick of it. In fact, Darry, Ponyboy, and Sodapop provided food and shelter for anybody in the gang. That’s why they keep their front door unlocked. Another example was when Johnny died.
