In the film, we get an insight in India’s culture, and how the industry is changing. The film is a about a boy called Jamal. He is a poor 18‐year old boy who lives in the slum in
India. He joins a TV‐show called “Who wants to be a millionaire” and tries out for the big price, 20,000,000 rupees. But he don’t want the money, he only wants to find the love of his life, Latika. Jamal knows that Latika are watching the show, and that is why he joined.
Trough the movie, we get an insight in how the Indian life is. We see the development between two brothers, and most importantly, the relationship between a boy and a girl.
Jamal knows the answers to the questions, and that is why the producers behind the TV‐ show think that he is a cheater. How can a slum dog know so much? The police take him in, and try to get him to confess that he is a cheater. But in the end, they understand that he knew the answers. At the last question he chooses to call a friend, and he calls the only number he got. Latika answers the phone, and then Jamal knows that she is safe.
Jamal wins the big prize and gets Latika in the end.
The main characters in the film are Jamal, Salim and Latika. They call themselves “the tree musketeers” and together they experience ups and downs. Salim, who is the oldest consider himself as the boss, because of the fact that he is the oldest. His act against his brother isn’t good. There are contrasts between Salim and Jamal. Salim are the harsh one, and Jamal is the good one. It is all based on jealousy. Salim is jealous on Jamal, and I think this is why Salim is acting in they way he does.
