Sleep Away Camp Narrative
When my mom first asked me if I would like to go to a sleep away camp, I was not sure if I could be away from my family for 2 weeks but my family really must have wanted to get rid of me. They kept on encouraging me to go, eventually, I was convinced, it does not hurt that 2 of my close friends were going too. Before I left I had to pack for a very long time it felt like forever. I did not know it then but I was packing all the wrong things. When the time came for me to get ready to drive up to North Carolina I was so nervous that I may have chickened out and staid at home. But at the same time I was ready to be there and exited. During the twelve hour drive my friend and I could not stop talking about all the possibilities. we had looked online a ton to see what the camp would be like. There were, mountains a huge lake and even more fun activities! Every sport you could imagine of was there. The closer we got to North Carolina the less nervous and more exited I was getting. That night it took forever to fall asleep all of the possibilities were flowing through my head, what if it wasn't fun at all but what if I had an amazing time and never wanted to come home? The next morning when I woke up we had to drive for another 3 hours to get to the camp. 3 long hours later we had arrived and I was getting more exited and less scared of being away for so long. when I walked In to the camp with my mom, my friend, and his mom, I was …show more content…
One of my favorite activities was sock wars, and no that is not were you have a competition to see who has the stinkiest socks, even though I would defiantly win that. It is a game were the whole entire camp splits up in to two teams. Each team had a flag and we filled are socks with saw dust, and you run around hitting each other with socks and trying to get the other teams flag. When camp was over I was happy to see my parents but the count down in my head had already begun The next summer when I went to

Two years ago, when I needed to decide what I wanted to do for the summer, I was very conflicted. Most of my friends were signing up to work as counselors at a day camp. I wasn’t really interested in this and convinced my parents to let me look into travel camps. I was perfectly fine going alone on this amazing trip around the West coast. In my mind I could meet tons of new people and that I would be fine. In the end, I was able to get a group of 5-6 girls together to sign up for this program. Although I was completely satisfied with going on this program alone it made a big difference to have some friends with me. It was comforting having some of my close friends with me and allowed me to create amazing memories with them. I realized that even if I had attended this program by myself I would have had an incredible experience although having some of my best friends there made it that much better. The scenery still would have been amazing and we would have done the exact same activities but the people that surround you really changes the entire experience. As we say nowadays “its not where you are but who you are with”. I was able to have both; go on an amazing trip around the West coast and experience it with great…

An often forgotten aspect of the home front, the United States detained more than 400,000 Axis prisoners in rural camps during the war. According to the provisions as agreed upon by the Geneva Convention, POWs could work if they received pay and their employment did not contribute directly to the war effort. To help alleviate the severe shortage of workers in the United States, tens of thousands of the former enemy combatants labored on farms and in canneries and mills.31…

    Summary Of Camp Harmony

The story, "Camp Harmony", by Monica Sone, is a true story about a young girl and her family who have been transported to internment camps and the young girl's daily struggle to deal with hardships within the camp as well as her internal struggle of identity crisis. The irony of the camp's name in the story, Camp Harmony, is ironic because of the fact that the camp is an internment camp and is almost the opposite of harmony. The camp was created not because of harmony but because of war. The author conveys the irony of the camp's name through the story by showing the discord and confusion in the camp. The author shows how intense the camp is and how it is more like a prison then a camp. "... I noticed a powerful beam of light sweeping across…

It all started in the summer of 2010, where I was sent off to Massachusetts for the next seven weeks. I was going to Camp Winadu, which is a summer camp that my dad attended from ages four to nineteen. My Dad and I boarded our flight at O’Hare, and during the whole two hour flight I was nervous about being away from my parents for almost two months. Adding even more onto my nerves, I was the only camper that wasn’t from the East Coast. After we landed, I was whisked away in a van (in a good way), and taken through the rural parts of New York and Massachusetts that I never knew existed. When I arrived, everyone was playing basketball on the court by the lake. Most of the kids knew each other, but I knew nobody. I was a stray dog. Everyone hung around for a few hours before we were sent to our cabins, where I of course knew nobody. Something else that I also didn’t know was that Winadu was an ultra-competitive sports camp.…
