Romeo and Gloucester
Gloucester and Romeo had similarities when it comes to their goals. They both work hard for what they want to achieve. Getting killed, dying, or losing their lives is what they risk in order to catch the trophy they're aiming for. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo showed sad emotions because of love and despair from his previous relationship with Rosaline. Her image revolve around his mind. Then several events happened that lead for Juliet to come in Romeo's life. He fell in love with her which he certainly thought would never come around again. He love her more than how he liked Rosaline. The rivalries between their families didn't keep him from chasing Juliet. His loyalty changed and so did his emotions. He let his love consumed him that he's willing to lose everything in order to be with Juliet. Because he's so thirsty and rushed to be with her, he died and lost everything he had.
Gloucester on the other hand is the same. He's not chasing for love but for power; just like Romeo he was in bottom when it all started. People belittle him because of his illness, and lacks of attention he gets. Gloucester could be nice, and a very wise man. He can manipulate and move those around him like a puppet. But many situation he was put in that he killed those who gets on his way just for the throne he longs for. He won what he wanted and that showed change of his character. We all know his love for his country and love for everything to be alright. Though, the deeds he has done from getting to where he is hunted him. He became weak on his own dreams. He fought till the end and died with his pride and regret none. Romeo and Gloucester both are strong minded. They don't cease for others. Evil and violence caught on their character throughout both plays.

The character I have chosen is Friar Laurence he influences Romeo and Juliet by telling them the upcoming events in the near future.He has also married Romeo and Juliet despite Laurence being shocked by Romeo’s mishap with rosaline which did not give Romeo any affection, it also was an attempt to try to stop the civil Feud between the capulets and the Montagues. Most people would not consider Friar Laurence to be the most important character, what with his many mistakes, sneaky plans, and abused power. But yet, if you look at all his mistakes, and plans combined, he was the one who ultimately ended the feud. Friar Laurence had the most power over both families, being a wise counselor and unbiased in the feud, so he was able to give advice to Romeo and Juliet, who followed blindly. Throughout the course of the play, Romeo makes rash decisions without putting any forethought into it, and this ultimately leads to the deaths of him, Juliet, and the characters. For example, when Tybalt killed Mercutio, Romeo went after Tybalt and killed him to avenge his friend. Romeo, himself, was even willing to die for his friend and says “Either thou or I, or both, must go with him’ (III.i.125). Though avenging the death of his best friend was a noble action, this incident lead to the banishment of Romeo which caused the death of his mother and other problematic events that transpires later on in the tragedy. Also, at the beginning of the play, Romeo declares he loves a girl named Rosaline and his causes him to fall into a period of depression because she rejects his love for her. However, after he spends a small fraction of time with Juliet, Romeo completely forgets about the girl he was pining after and switches to Juliet without a second thought. Less than twenty-four hours after he meets Juliet, Romeo marries her even though he has only known her for a miniscule amount of time. Romeo: The son of Montague, Romeo is first introduced to us as a sad, melancholic, apathetic youth. His reason for sadness is universal; Rosaline his love will not return his affections. Not initially daring, it is his friends Mercutio and Benvolio who suggest he gatecrash or arrive uninvited at the Capulet party to see Rosaline. There he meets Juliet falling instantly in love. Equally important, Romeo exemplifies his tragic flaw throughout the whole play. One can see by Romeo’s actions that he is still a young teenager who does not think about the consequences. Romeo goes to the Capulet’s party hoping to pine over Rosaline, instead he falls in love with Juliet and cannot bear to leave, “Can I go forward when my heart is here? Romeo has a habit of falling in and out of love, he tends to have a lack of commitment to one person and exaggerate his feelings and impulses. When Romeo went to the Capulet's party and saw Juliet for the first time he immediately forgot about Rosaline and fell in love with Juliet as he stated, "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night (1.5.59-61). He questioned himself if he had ever loved anyone before that night, and if so, then his eyes must have lied, because he had never seen anyone before that night.
