Significant event in my life
Terrance Estelle 500 word significance paper Dr.jo

Something in my life that I find to be significant is receiving over a million dollars in scholarships from various schools, being accepted to every school I applied to, as well as graduating from high school to be able to go to college and further my education. See in my family it is not too often that a male graduates from high school and goes to college especially with the accomplishments that I have done. Not only was I the first male in my family to graduate in the top 10% of my class, I was also the first to receive more than just a athletic or band scholarship in my family. Along with my plethora of band scholarships that I received I also received academic scholarships to go various schools and one in particular from Princeton University really caught my eye. Doing these things started to pave a bright future for myself and the doors that opened for me. The scholarships I received as far as bands were from: Alabama State university, Alabama A&M University, Alcorn State University, Jackson State University, Tennessee State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Southern University, Texas Southern university, Winston-Salem State University, Grambling State University, Florida A&M, Bethune Cookman, South Carolina State, Howard, Hampton, Albany State, and University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. I received around $1,000,000 in band scholarships alone. I received academic scholarships that I received were from: Jackson State University, Princeton University, University of Kentucky, Savannah State University, Albany State University, and Florida A&M. I received around $500,000 from my academic scholarships. This is significant to me because I was told I was the first student at my high school to receive that much money in scholarships in 10 years. Doing this was not easy for me though. I faced a lot of trials and tribulations throughout my high school especially my senior in high school. Dealing

Throughout the past year I have endured several life changing occurances. One of my family members troubled through the treturous stages of cancer and unfortunately has passed at this time. If I have taken anything away from this, it is that family is the most important resource in a persons life. Without those people who tell you that you can, regardless of the circumstances, becoming succesful could be very challenging. After clearing my head, I was able to start thinking of a career choice that would make me enjoy going to work. I encountered an opening at a local CVS/Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician and applied. After being hired, I immediately fell in love with the surroundings, the people, the patient interaction, and the knowledge…

For this project you will write a narrative essay about a significant moment of your life using the literary strategies of plot, character, and setting. This should be a moment when you learned something important about yourself or someone else, or about life. You will develop your story through the use of contraries, creating tension that moves the story forward and gives it significance. You can discuss the importance of your story explicitly, perhaps as a revelation, or you can imply it. Either way, it should be clear that you have contemplated the significance of the event and have pushed your thinking past the obvious, surface-level impact. The focus of your narrative should be “The Moment,” with only enough background to convey its understanding to the reader.…

Fortunately, by the fifth grade my parents were able to rent an apartment nearby our school and had found jobs in multiple Brownsville restaurants. After the move, things became much easier and we were able to have a much simpler life, though we were never able to forget the hardships we experienced and the effort we put into enhancing our lives. Today, I am sure my successes as of now are gratifying my parents as I am in the top 10% of my class, the Co-Captain of the Golden Stars Dance Team, member of the National Honor Society, Piano Club, HOSA, and in TRIO UTRGV talent search program. I attend rigorous AP classes to improve my opportunity to attend a university and have the finest future I can give myself. Although my triumphs may not look like much to most, I can assertively say that the trial of going through difficulty to have a superior future has been overcome with the comfort of focus, strength, and the right set of mind to build a better tomorrow for my family and…

I have persevered through obstacles that I had encountered in my high school years. Junior year, first semester, I had high grades and perfect attendance to maintain my honor schedule. Once second-semester arrived, everything went downhill. I had two family passings that were out of the state. The first death was from my father’s side of the family in North Carolina. I spent a whole week out of school, which made me fall behind in every one of my classes. As soon as I arrived back home, a week later, there was another passing, however it was from my mother’s side of the family in Mexico. There went another week out of school again. Both sides of my family were in complete sorrow and grief which really affected my personal and academic life.…

My father has taught me consistently that giving up isn’t an option. Along with my mother came the idea of protection. Protecting yourself, while not giving up on anything in life adapted me to be the individual I am right now. Both parents, have never given up and have supported my growth as a young woman. The days where everything comes crashing down there wasn’t giving up involved, because of the life lessons I learned. Attending a University, buying a car, and living comfortably with my sexuality are three key events that structured me as an individual, but that’s the thing without my mother and father I think I would have been oblivious to the idea of self growth and motivation to better myself.…

Shortly after Claas' death, one of my classmates adopted me in to his circle of friends and I became part of a group after years of sticking to a single friend. In order to fill the void that Claas had left behind, I spent most of my effort on maintaining my social life with little regard for my grades. Halfway through my junior year, I realized that I was unlikely to be admitted to a good university and would have to attend the local community college. It was then that I comprehended that I needed to make a big change in order to fix my life, which meant leaving behind the negative environment of my old high school and moving to a private high school to repeat my junior year and finish high school.…

I was looking at scholarships one day and I came to realize something: the society today absolutely loves minorities. For example, there was a scholarship for someone that was left-handed, blue eyed, and a varsity letter winner in high school. Realizing that I didn’t fit in any scholarship requirements I came across, I knew I had to do something to earn all the money I can. Only one thing came across my mind, Golf. I knew that if I could excel in sports then I could get large amount of money through athletic scholarships. And that is exactly what happened. I have always wanted to play college golf, so that is what I put my mind to. Getting everything paid for throughout school is very hard to do. That is where needing money comes into play. I am not exactly sure as of now how much money in athletics I will end up getting by the time I get to college, but I do know…
