Sideshow: Play Analysis
Jonathan L. Green is an associate literary manager of the Goodman theater and artistic director of Sideshow theatre. He majored in English literature that involved in the drama department at the University of Virginia from Charlottesville. his school. After graduation, he moved to Chicago as he was recommended by a friend to come as Chicago where has a great theatre community, and you can get work versus options in the the east coast like New York. In Chicago, Jonathan and some of his friends started the non-profit organization, Sideshow Theatre Company. While doing that, he was at the Looking Glass as the director of Audience Services. He worked there for seven years, until 2014 a friend recommended a position at the Goodman Theatre. That can range from seeing plays and determining which ones would be good to have at the Goodman and commissioning plays to be made by playwrights. He also dramaturges or designates someone to do so for plays. At Sideshow, he worked with other artists as a collective to get productions going either by assembling actors, getting lighting and set designers, and dramaturging the play itself. He also has directed plays at the Sideshow. He currently has a production out called Truth and Reconciliation. Deciding what gets played at the Goodman Theatre, either seeing what plays would be good to have at the Goodman. He sometimes goes out and see plays themselves. He would also work his other directors and coworkers to commission a play to be made with playwrights. Dramaturging plays in order to update context and other parts of the play that may be irrelevant. Not only just his responsibilities as sideshow is an artist collective, so Jonathan is collaborating with others to create plays, ensemble actors and get a crew to design
