What’s the difference between HRM & HRD? * HRD is just one of the functions of HRM * HRM includes many functions 3. Mention the functions of HRM? * Staffing( job analysis, HR planning, Recruitment, Selection) a. Job analysis: systematic process of determining skills, duties required for a job b. Staffing: process of ensuring it always has the right number of employees with appropriate skills in the right job at right time to achieve organizational objectives. c. HR planning: matching internal & external supply f ppl with job openings anticipated in the organization over a period of time. d. Recruitment: attracting individuals on a timely basis, in sufficient number and with appropriate qualifications, to apply for jobs with an organization. e. Selection: choosing from a group of applicants the best suited for a particular position. * HRD a. Training & Development: Training: Improving the knowledge, skills and attitudes of employees for a short term eg. Orientation, coaching, counselling. i. Coaching: transfer the knowledge and skills to improve employees’ performance. Successful training requires: 1 trust 2.mutual respect3.positive focus4.accountibility5.relationship. ii. Counselling: direct face to face conversation between a supervisor and a direct report. b. Development: preparing for future responsibilities, while increasing the capacity to perform at a current job.
