Should School Uniforms Take Away The Right Of Self-Expression?
Among many schools, uniforms have become a popular trend. Student and parents believe that school uniforms take away the right of self-expression. School uniforms have been an on-going debate in the United States public school systems. Many individuals feel that uniforms lessen competition among students and bring a sense of equality in school. Those who are against school uniforms believe that they prevent students from expressing themselves and hinders creativity. Some students may see uniforms as a violation of their rights, while others feel they benefit from them because it relieves the stress of picking out what to wear every morning. Although school uniforms have their advantages, they also limit students from expressing who they truly are. It’s believed that with every student wearing the same outfit, there will be less indicators of wealth between what people wear, resulting in less students being bullied because of their clothes. Although, this theory may be true for some, bullies do not always pick on their targets based on their outfits. There are many other aspects of people that are unaltered by school uniforms, which bullies can use.

Children should have the right to appropriately dress for school. This right allows them to experiment with their creativity, imagination, and develop their personality. School should support diversity instead of equality by wearing the same outfit, because each and every student is different and unique.
