What is obesity? Obesity is a condition where a person has accumulated so much body fat that it has caused medical conditions. Two out of every three Americans are now considered to be overweight or obese. More women become more obese in America than men. (30 million men and 36 million women)(Obesity in the U.S). Some people say that it’s not the Government's business that people are overweight. Overweight and obesity are advancing rapidly in the developing world… While other adults, and children are starving in other countries. The United States should take this more seriously.

National Institute of Health is spending $75-$125 billion on indirect and direct costs due to obesity-related diseases(obesity statistics). People that are obese are having to spend a lot of money on healthcare. People spend 4$ to 100$ a month for diabetes medicine, if they are not covered by health insurance(diabetes type 2). A treatment most people do is the insulin pump which cost around $5,000 to $7,000(insulin pump). It checks your insulin, where you don’t have to. This is easier than poking yourself and putting the insulin in yourself. Coronary heart disease medicines range from $8 to $146(heart disease).The effects of the outcomes of obesity is costly to a family.
Lastly, I’m going to talk about what to do about obesity. There are several options to overcome this. One would be exercising, you can go take a walk. Don’t get discouraged if you can’t make it far, your body will be able to do more a little each day. It also helps if you can listen to your music while you exercise. Another thing would be changing your lifestyle. Next time you go to the grocery store, instead of getting junk food get healthier foods. Also, you should join a support group. They’re people just like you, who can motivate you into losing
