Should Juveniles Be Tried As Adults
Juvenile criminals, conscious adults or underdeveloped children? When you're dealing with children who committed a crime such as murder, it is hard to judge if whether they should be tried as an adult or as a child. I think that juveniles should be tried as adults because if children brain development was the reason they kill others, then they teens would kill at around the same rate around the world. First, if children are not tried as adults and are released there is no telling if they will continue to do criminal acts or not. In an article by Gail Garner “Juveniles Don't Deserve Life Sentences” he says that “it is impossible at the time of sentencing for mental health professionals to predict which youngsters will fall within that majority

Some believe that despite the children's age, they should still be tried as an adult if a serious crime is committed. On the other hand, some believe children should not be tried as adult even if they commit a rather serious crime. I firmly that these children should not be sentenced to life in prison despite the serious crime that they have committed and should have another shot at life when their brain is fully developed.…

There are multiple reasons that allow individuals to have their own opinions considering children and how they should be treated and tried in criminal cases. Many people today believe that teenagers should not be tried to mandatory life in prisons because their brains are not fully developed to make wise decisions which means they lack common sense. While others believe juveniles should be sentenced to mandatory life in prison because teenagers have plenty of common sense and at their age can identify right from wrong and are also aware of the consequences that they will encounter. I believe juveniles should not be tried to mandatory life in prison for their heinous crimes because they are still underdeveloped and are less mature compared to…

Orange: Should Juveniles Be Tried As Adult?.” Alex Rooney stated, children who are below 10 year old supposedly know what is right and wrong. This tells us that even at young age, juveniles know things that can hurt other people. These days, young people are smarter compared to the past generations. In fact, they are more vulnerable and fearless, so they don’t care what might be the consequences to their actions even though it is a serious crime. One of the example is about the case of Nathaniel Brazill, he committed crime at the age of fourteen. He shot one of his teacher in middle school and plead guilty for second-degree murder. Nathaniel Brazill said that it was a “stupid mistake” but authorities looked at it as a planned crime.(Paul Thompson 2001) Despite of being aware towards their action, teenagers keeps on doing it. So, they must be punish for the crime they’ve done as…

At the ages of one to fifteen the murder would have to be a very clear intention of murder to try the child as an adult. No one person's crime is the same as another, therefore no one should be tried the same. Minors, depending on their situation could be tried as adults. Children going through adolescence have emotional instability, me being a child going through this phase represent an example. The way I might react to something is going to different than the way someone else would, this is because no two people are alike.…

Good morning/afternoon/evening. The negative position would urgently like to negate the resolution: Resolved - Kids should NOT be tried as adults. Let me being by putting forth the following definitions. A kid is an informal term for a child or young person, a child defined as a person under the age of 18 years old. An adult is denoted as a person who is fully grown or developed, that is, a person 18 years of age or older. To be tried is to be subjected to trial. Essentially, a kid being tried as an adult means that a person under the age of 18 years old should be subjected to governmental punishment. This is absolutely ridiculous. It is irrational and unreasonable to punish innocent and naive children as though they are fully grown and matured adults. This brings me to three primary contentions:…

I feel the law should be abolished is that the juvenile can be charged as an adult in the legal court system. The traditional rule is that anyone who is under 18 is a juvenile and will be tried in the juvenile court system. However, in certain circumstances, almost every state now allows for youths below the age of 18 to be tried as an adults. Some states give juvenile court judges to power to have juvenile’s case tried in adult criminal court. Some states give power to prosecutors the power to decide whether or not a juvenile will be tried as an adult. In some states,…

In Kentucky, and in many other states as well, after the age of 18 you are considered an adult. This is the level of majority. If someone were to commit a crime at this age or older they would be tried as an adult. Children under the age of 18 cannot be sentenced to death or to life without possibility of parole. This is because children are physically incapable of making mature, responsible, well processed decisions. Opinions from one person to the next differ as there are several reasons concerning juveniles how they should be treated and tried in criminal cases (Southerland). The issue may be more of a debate as some people would say that kids do not have enough reasoning and lack common sense. Others, on the other hand, would say that juveniles have plenty of brains and common sense. There are strong reasons as to why juveniles should not be tried as adults and should not be eligible for life without parole.…

In my opinion, I think that the teens should be tried and convicted as adult. In most juvenile systems throughout the country, the juvenile courts lose the power to young person at age 21. For example if a 17-year-old teenager murder and is convicted of that murder, he can only be sentenced to prison or to a juvenile facility until the age of 21. Then he has to be let go. So he would only serve four years for murder whether he killed one, two, three or five people. Most people feel that a three, four or six year sentence for murder is insufficient. It doesn’t bring a sense of justice to the people who are suffering for the loss of their relative. Furthermore to allow these cruel criminal released after spending a few years in juvenile prison…

Juveniles are considered juveniles and should be given juvenile punishment unless it's for something inhumane, such as murder. The United States of America has the highest teen murder rate out of every country. The reason is due to guns being easy to get, the amount of violence they see today, and the T.V. programs shown. The 2012 Supreme Court decision to abolish mandatory life in prison for juveniles who commit murder was not a just decision, because teens should know better. They're old enough to know murder is wrong. Our country should give teens the punishment they deserve for the crime they commit. Murder deserves a life sentence whether a juvenile or grown adult.…

    * Should teenagers be tried as adults? Opinions differ. Some people argue that teenagers don't know what they are doing when they commit a crime and are still too young to comprehend what is right and wrong. I totally disagree. I am old enough to know that committing a crime is wrong and that if I commit one, I will be punished. Anyone who says teens can't tell right from wrong is either too old to remember what being a teenager is like or they are a teenager who has committed a crime and don't want to be tried as an adult. In either case, they are wrong. All teens know that killing is wrong, yet they do it anyway and get away with a light sentence because of their age. Even if a teen didn't know it was wrong, it doesn't mean it's right. They should still be punished. If they aren't, they will think that crimes are okay and continue to commit them.…
