Short Story: Deer Hunting
One dark and stormy night, Tim, a 26 year old man, was driving with his friends to a club since they had just gotten out of a bar. They were having a conversation like any other 26 year olds would talk about, when suddenly a deer with only one antler on its head crossed their path; it looked as if it was heading for a roofed ally.
“Whoa bros! Did you see what I just did”, Tim questioned.
“Yep”, they all said.
“Should we investigate?”
“Yea!”
They then got of the car to investigate the deer. When they went to the “crime scene” they were shocked to their very bones. The deer’s body was not even there, it disappeared. They knew that because there was a fence at the end of the ally and a deer can’t climb a fence.
“Wha? Where’s the deer?”
“Look

In Rick Bass story the “Two Deer” there is an idea of two separate views on predators and prey. Bass created two separate worlds by having two different viewpoints between the narrator and his wife Martha. A great example of the different viewpoints Martha and the narrator is when the narrator stated when they was in college, “I was going to learn how to build roads in the forest”(168), and “she explained to me that what I was doing was bad, that road building in the west destroyed the last pieces of wilderness”(168). This is a great example because it always Bass’s audience to see that the two main characters of the story both have different back viewpoint on the materials the world/nature has to offer. The mysteries of natural world is expressed…

With the barrel of her musket propped firmly on the limb of a tree, Charity took steady aim at the deer. The medium-sized buck was grazing at the edge of a thicket of wax myrtles, near where she saw the deer tracks the day before. John and Uriah were squatting in the bushes behind her. She had brought them along to help with the bleeding out of the deer, should she kill one, and to help carry it back to camp. They could then dress it out and help her prepare the meat for making jerky and so forth. She also hoped to can some of the meat so that it would last a lot longer. She was glad that Nancy had shown her how and taught her how to preserve food in glass jars- it was much better than having to dry it all into tough leather strips… Taking careful aim, Charity squeezed the trigger, while saying a quick prayer that the bullet would hit its mark. She was worried that she wasn't close enough to the deer, but if she had tried to get any closer, it would have seen her and ran off into the woods.…

A young deer has strayed away from her herd and is innocently grazing on grass. Ten yards away, a hungry wolf pack slowly stalks toward the fawn after trailing her for days. The deer senses what's happening and darts away, but it's too late, the fawn is as good as dead. The snowy terrain works to the wolf's’ advantage, with their huge paws acting like snowshoes. The wolves advance as their strongest member leads the chase. The pups watch from the sidelines as the deer quickly tires out. The head wolf quickly latches on to the fawn’s nose and brings her to the ground. The deer thrashes as more wolves come and attack her. Not long after, the fawn gives up her fight and the wolves feast.…

The dog soon dies and the narrator, told from the first person perspective, recounts the events of that day. After he finds the dog dead in the yard, he readily wraps him up in a tarp and buries him behind the family garden. Once back in the house, he second guesses his haste in disposing of the body. He soon returns to the burial spot and exhumes the body. With spade in hand, he sends it down on the dog’s head, releasing any doubts as to whether or not the dog was dead. The dog’s ‘revenge’ soon acts on the narrator again, this time causing him to think about what he would tell his children, and whether or not his excuse would make any sense. Once the neighbor calls informing him that there was a chance the dog could have rabies, it gave the narrator the perfect excuse to, once again, march out to the backyard and dig up the family dog.…

It’s November, so that means its deer season. Every year deer season starts on the second weekend of November and last for ten days. I get really excited around August because during this time my family and I start exploring the woods looking for signs of deer. We look for signs like scrapes on trees, footprints, and tall grass that looks like it has been laid on and flattened. We set salt blocks out around our tree stands and set our cameras out hoping to catch a picture of a big buck. After we finish all the preparing we wait until the first week of November. During the first week of November we go back to our stands, check the salt blocks, set new blocks out, and grab our cameras to take back home. Once we get home we look at the pictures…

While walking slowly, he looks around what other children are doing and joins other boys who are playing with wooden blocks and cars on the carpet at the corner of the classroom. He sits down on the carpet and picks up one wood block from the plastic container. He stacks up a few blocks one by one very carefully. After stacking 7 blocks up high, he knocks them over with his hand with a little smile on his face. He looks around and stares at the boy who is playing with moving animals for a while. He moves across from that boy on his knees . His eyes follows the movement of the moving dog. When the dog stops moving, he looks at that boy and giggles softly. He lifts it up with two fingers, put it down on the floor to let go toward the boy across back. When it bumps his leg on the way back to him, he mumbles, "Ouch!" quietly. He lowers his upper body all the way down to the carpet and tries to blow it couple of times with his lips. He uses his hands to switch a direction toward the other guy. They send it back and forth to each other couple of time more. Tom searches around and spots other moving animals on the floor. He picks up a…
