Sheriff's Beach-Personal Narrative
The starry night sky filled with twinkling lights is absolutely breathtaking. I hear the flames crackle and hiss as I slowly rotate the marshmallow over the glowing embers to create the perfect golden brown color. Happy cheers from my loved ones gathered around the bonfire, fill the summer air. I can smell the Norway pine trees and taste the ooey-gooey 'smore as it melts on my taste buds. This is my happy place; the place I never want to leave. My cabin is my favorite place in this crazy world, and even though I have had the best times and the fondest memories here, it holds so much more than just great experiences. The Lundgren cabin is located on Fishtrap lake, a few miles north of Little Falls, Minnesota. When the hour long drive …show more content…
My favorite memory would, without a doubt, be Sheriff's Weekend of 2015. Sheriff's Weekend is a weekend in August where we invite all of our closest friends up to have a fun, party-filled time. It's called Sheriff's Weekend because the first time we held this, our cranky neighbor called the cops on us for throwing a riot. This tradition has been ongoing for 12 years. Anyways, last summer all of the regulars made the trip and my sister and I, brought up our friends, Annette and Bailey. This time was so memorable because there were babies to play with, everyone was hysterical because they started drinking at noon, and we had some painful falls on the tube and wakeboard. The best flip was on the last day of our trip. We were tubing on a four person tube behind my neighbor’s speed boat. Of course we wanted to flip, so to signify this, we all yawned as if we were bored. When the driver recognized this, he whipped us out right into a huge wave, and everything seemed to happen in slow motion from there. Bailey flew off the back of the tube the moment we collided with the monster wave. We began to tip and before I knew it, we were vertical in the air with me on the top, Annette in the middle, and Sami already plummeting into the blue waters. The whole tube flipped on it’s stomach and I was soaring through the air when I landed straight on my bottom like I lept into a cannonball. When everyone surfaced, we started screaming with laughter and bewilderment at what just occurred. Not only will I never forget that ride, but my mom caught the action with a snapshot on her

Back in the summer of 2013 my family was deciding on what vacation we should go on. It took us until July to finally decide where we wanted to go and we chose San Diego. At the time I didn’t know where San Diego was and frankly I thought we were going to Florida. When we got in the car and started to drive I was very confused on the fact we were not going to an airport. On the eight hour car ride there it took my family around an hour and a half to explain that we were not going to Florida.…

Just one, Sheriff’s Explorer Program. It may seem odd at first, since I had absolutely zero interest in law enforcement. Maybe for a split second, I thought about becoming a homicide detective. As it was my mother’s dream, unfortunately with no papers and mouths to feed, it was far from reality. Nevertheless, I joined the program. Just to be clear, this was no boy scouts club. LASD does not play around, and they expect nothing but absolute perfection from you. Which is why they put you through an agonizing 18-week course. Every week, your Saturday was wasted to attend the course, at 5 AM sharp. Business attire was to be worn. Let me tell you, it had to be flawless. Any imperfection, and instructors were on you all day. Yet, many like myself went through it.…

A search of Derrick Robinson’s cell phone was done and at 4:46 a.m. an incoming call was received from (910) 644-7834. The phone number was checked through several Police data bases with negative results. I then searched the phone number through Facebook and learned it was assigned to a J-Rock Ru. I then attempted to see if this was the same J-Rock that went to Emily Hamlin residence on the night of the Homicide.…

Cuddled up around the heat of the fire, we chuckled while sharing stories about unruly campers. As we chatted over s’mores and hot cocoa, I recounted my experiences. Looking back upon my periods of apprehension, I realized that my worries were small. Through the madness, I found that the community I was immersed in taught me more about myself than I could have ever imagined. I learned that through my own resilience I can conquer any task, handling struggles with grace and resolve. I realized that I was my best self when I was surrounded with supportive people. I came home from HoneyRock with a Chaco tan and lots of bug bites, but more importantly with memorable adventures and valuable lessons. Glancing around the circle of firelit faces, I was assured that this had indeed been the summer of a…

When one thinks of summer, it immediately comes to mind the sight of sandy beaches, amusement parks and hot sunny days. Coney Island, an extravagant vacation playground to visit especially for the summer. I have recently had an opportunity to come to such a wonderful place that the sights are still engraved in my mind. There were other attractions that I have missed out on mainly since I had only one day there. If time was not an issue, I would have definitely visited more programs that they provide. Getting there is also not a problem due to their cheap and handy subway system. One thing to be cautioned about is that it can get extremely busy on the weekends, so the best time to be there would be on the weekdays, especially if you do not want…

Upon awaking, I feel a sense of calm, thinking that life couldn't be any better than what it is right now. As I look upon the mountains I see mist rising from the night before; right in front of me, the smell of a fire slowly simmering its way out. As I stumble around, barely awake from my rest the night before, I feel happy that I am finally at the place where I feel the most comfortable, the most like Holly. As the morning sun starts to rise over the mountains, my mom is busy cooking a good old fashioned breakfast; while my dad, on the other hand, is stoking the fire for us to get warmed up. While looking around, I realize that my cat is prowling around trying to catch birds and my dog is just lying around being her lazy self.…

My career narrative is to join the coast guard and hopefully become a rescue swimmer. I don’t really know if that’s what I want to do yet because that is a tough job to have. I do hope to have a final decision by the time I graduate. Although I have always wanted to become one since I was in middle school now that I have gotten older it seems to be a tough decision now. I have done a lot more research on my job since middle school and I don’t really know if that’s something I’m up for now.…

A friend comes and taps me on the shoulder and motions towards the lake, as I now see the fireworks have started. I grab my drink and jacket, pull myself up from the chair, and start walking towards the lake. The cold dew on my bare feet is a surprising but a refreshing brake from the hot waves from the fire. The cool breeze feels wonderful on my arms and neck, but is ever more apparent on my flushed, pink checks. Its cool but refreshing as I take a deep breath of the clear air, free of smoke.…
