Sentences and Paragraphs Penn Foster
Paragraph 1
I have applied for a position as a Medical Transcriptionist at Arrowhead Hospital to get back into the medical field. When I graduated from High School, I decided that I wanted to be a Medical Assistant. At that time, I was employed by a company that was in the business of building houses. Once I graduated with my Associates Degree in Medical Assisting, I decided that I wanted to take my medical career further and continued my education with a course in Surgical Technology. Upon completion of my course work in the Surgical Technology program I was required to complete an externship at Phoenix Children’s Hospital within the pediatric neurosurgery department. This was an extremely challenging task as emotionally, I was not ready to deal with the emotional impact of helping babies that were so ill and sometimes terminal. I completed my externship and graduated from the program and at that time, I decided to continue my employment in the homebuilding business. In 2005, the real estate market started to take a turn for the worse and my position in homebuilding was eliminated. Shortly after this, I started a family and made the choice to stay at home with my children while they were young. I am now ready to re-enter the workforce and my past experience in the medical field complements the training that I have received as a Medical Transcriptionist.

Following undergrad, I was unable to matriculate because of financial constraints. We were recent immigrants, and as an international student, financial aid was unavailable. To prepare financially for medical school prior to reapplication, I took a circuitous route that would also further my science and patient-care interests. After undergrad, I secured funding for a master's in mechanical engineering through the Department of Ophthalmology to work with low-vision patients and develop vision aids. By performing well, I maintained funding throughout the program. Since graduation, I have been working in PwC’s consulting practice, gaining broad exposure to industries like retail and foodservice. Though consulting demanded long hours, I remained…

Paragraph 7 contributes to the ideas in the text by showing that people got violent when others were just trying to make a change for the good. In paragraph 7 sentence 5 the author states, "When the buses reached Anniston, Alabama, an angry mob slashed the tires on one bus and set it aflame." The integrated black and white students were trying to take a stand and make a change. Yes, the people were breaking the law by driving all together, but others did not have to put them in danger for trying to make a change and do something right. This shows that others were breaking the law just as much as the integrated students.…

Chris McCandless‘s admirers are wrong to believe that he was a deeply honest person. At some moments in Into the Wild, he was not an honest person. According to Westerberg, a McCandless’s friend, said, “He never explained why he’d changed his name” (Krakauer 18). When McCandless decided to make a trip into the wild, he changed his name; he did not even bring any identification with him. During the trip, everybody knew about him under the name Alex. Westerberg was a friend that was close to McCandless, but he never knew McCandless’s real name until he discovered from McCandless’s tax form. Westerberg was so surprised, but he did not ask McCandless the reason why he changed his name. Westerberg knew something happened between McCandless and his father, which McCandless never told him. Unfortunately, he did not have a change to hear the truth from McCandless. The significance about changing his name was that McCandless did not want everybody to know the truth of his personality. He hid everything about himself and his family, except his sister. It was a pain in his heart when he thought about his father. Beside this, McCandless was also a dishonest person in his family. He kept all things he knew about his father inside, even his sister. In Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer wrote, “but he did not confront his parents with what he knew, then or ever. He chose instead to make a secret of his dark knowledge and express his range obliquely, in silence and sullen withdrawal” (Krakauer 123). These actions by McCandless suggest much about his character. His problem with his father could be solved if he told the truth with his parents, but he never did that. He just kept inside and became angry to his father, even lying to his friend with a new name. Lying with his friend and his family was lying to himself. He could not stand it because his father was lying to him and his mother, but he still repeated the mistake of telling lies with his parents. Keeping…

position with the Division of Economic Security (DES)?’ this is my response. Over the years I have held several different office type jobs. I started out as a temporary worker for DES, in a file room in the Child Support Division. I was required to build files for different units; maintain a log of the files that were being received, transferred out, and sent to the warehouse. The files sent to the warehouse were given a secondary number by the warehouse, in case a file had to be retrieved; this was the tracking system that allowed the warehouse to locate the appropriate file. I worked in DES as a Customer Service Representative (CSR) for the Family Assistance Administration (FAA). As a CSR I was required to perform a wide range of clerical duties; distributing mail/inter-office mail and faxes, pulling and filing files in the file room, registering/scheduling incoming applications, ensuring the case managers had their list of appointments for the day and the incoming paperwork that accompanied it, answering the switchboard to guide/answer incoming calls from consumers, and scan information the case managers had gathered from the consumers into the system. The position as a CSR proved tested my ability to multi-task and to prioritize and re-prioritize with the day to day changes.…

Should America legalize an illegal drug, as way out of the economical downfall we have found ourselves in? A popular article appeared in April of 2009 in Times magazine, catching millions of readers’ attention. The article was titled, “Why Legalizing Marijuana Makes Sense” and was written by Joe Klein. Cannabis, America’s drug of choice for the past eighty-five years has been a plant otherwise known as marijuana or weed. Everyday millions of American dollars are circulated illegally through the drug market. The article shed light on a subject that was beginning to be more popular than America led it on to be. The article argued very truthful and valid points by stating that our government searches for an answer to our national debt and for a way out of an almost economical depression every day, when the answer lies directly in front of us.…

I am applying for the ABA Therapist position at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) because I feel the need to help Autistic children. When my younger sister had her second baby, I felt in love with him from the time I saw him. He was a normal and healthy baby. After a year or so we begin to notice changes in his behavior and attitude. After many visits to the doctor my nephew was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a type of Autism, apparently very common in children. I spent the majority of my free time researching and investigating his condition. He started receiving occupational and behavioral therapy; his ABA therapist would come home twice a week. He enjoyed his therapy sessions very much; I saw how dedicated his therapist was and realized how important these sessions are for an autistic child. My nephew is a normal and very smart child, but with special needs. He is my inspiration in life, being so close to him helped me decide what career to pursue, that's how I enrolled at the University of Phoenix and got my degree in psychology while I was a volunteer at the Autism Diagnostic Clinic at Phoenix Children's Hospital. My biggest passion is to help autistic children like my nephew. I'm ready to become a member of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, it would be a great honor to get the ABA Therapist position and start working with your…

In spite of these differences, the similarities are striding. First, both cities are the political centers of their countries. The president of France lives in the heart of Paris, in the Elysees Palace. Likewise, the president of the United States has its meeting place in Washington, in the Capitol. Second, the two cities look similar. L’Enfant, the French engineer who designed Washington, was greatly influenced by the layout of the capital of France. For this reason, many of the buildings and monuments in Washington are symmetrically located in views of one another, just as they are in Paris. Both cities are also the sites of magnificent monuments, important historical landmarks, fine museums, beautiful parks, and board, treelined avenues. Finally, tourism is as important for Washington as it is for Paris Every year millions of tourists from all parts of the world visit these cities to view their attractions.…
