Self Reflection Papers
For our third week of clinical, my group and I presented on the topics of heart attack stroke, and heart disease at DOF. As a group, we were able to inform the group of men, with information that they would be able to think about and remember as they continue on with their lives. After DOF, we headed to Goodwill. As we spent time with the clients at Goodwill, I hanged out at one of the tables, where I spent some time looking at semi-truck photos with a client. It was nice spending some time with the client and getting to see the kind of photography he likes. The last part of clinical took place at Heartland Senior Center. At Heartland, we had the chance to complete assessments on two clients and practice writing progress notes. The clinical day was a success as I learned new things, had fun at Goodwill, and practiced my assessment skills.
Analysis
Some health concerns that I encountered this week was dealt with heart health and impaired memory/cognition. At DOF, our focus was to educate the men about heart health. As we interacted with the men, there were some that weren’t aware of what their blood pressure is normally at or between what range their cholesterol level fall in. This is concerning as it’s important for these men to know whether or not they have hypertension or elevated cholesterol levels. If they’re unaware …show more content…
My communication with the client’s was strong during the assessments as I was able to guide them on what I was doing. One thing that didn’t go so well for me was my presentation on stroke to the men at DOF. I was prepared for my part of the presentation as I had the notes I needed with me. I would know what I wanted to say, but I would hesitate and get nervous. What I would do in the future to change this situation, would be to calm myself down and enforce some confidence in myself; overall public speaking isn’t my best
