Self-Directed Online Learning can be extremely beneficial to many people or it can be completely unreliable to others. In our world not everyone’s different which means a lot of people have different ways of learning. Some people learn better when they’re in the classroom with a group of other students and some people learn better from reading lessons by themselves with no one around. One of the benefits of online learning is that it can teach people self-discipline to set a time and date when they will complete a certain task in the course and get it done when it needs to be done. Another benefit of Online Learning is saving time in your day. This means that you can sit in the comfort of your own home and complete your work without having to commute to school; which saves you time. Last but not least, online learning saves you money because most online courses are cheaper compared to other programs that take place in the classroom.
The challenges to this type of learning is since technology is always evolving faster than we expected, a lot of programs and styles of online learning will be changing which means everyone will have to keep up to date and learn the new formats of online learning. Another challenge that a lot of us will face is dealing with different problems that occur with the website. For example, if the website crashes then you won’t be able to submit your assignment or complete your homework. Another example is if you’re having a problem with your computer or your internet. If this occurs I suggest going to your local library to finish whatever needs to be done or contact a friend and see if you can use his/her computer.
This is my first time enrolling in an online course which means I will learn a lot from completing this course but one of the main things that I will learn is having self-discipline in finishing assignments or finishing the homework and setting a time and date when I will finish it.
