Saturday Scholars Reflection
The moment I first received my invitation to Saturday Scholars is one I remember vividly; similar to when one wakes from a lurid dream. My mother had examined the mail, and discovered there was a letter from Triad High School addressed to me. Like all students who receive a letter from their school, I was initially terrified, but I dug deep down inside on myself and worked up the courage to open the letter. It turned out my apprehension was unwarranted, because the letter was positive, and it invited me to this program called “Saturday Scholars.” At the time, I did not have the slightest clue of what Saturday Scholars actually was or did, but after reading the included pamphlet, I decided I liked the sound of it. I promptly filled out the signed …show more content…
For me personally, the answer to this question is simple. When it comes to future education, this program has allowed me to think outside of the box. Before Saturday Scholars, I was adamant about pursuing business in college and essentially nothing else. I still would like to pursue business, but Saturday Scholars has opened my mind to new possibilities I have never even considered. For example, before Mr. Clint Van Zandt delivered his presentation concerning his illustrious FBI career, I did not care about the FBI one bit. Now, I am actually quite interested in the FBI, and, while I do not see myself pursuing a career in the FBI, I deeply respect the profession. In addition to that, the cadaver also impacted me, but not in the way one would expect. When I saw the body of an actual human, I started pondering the meaning the life, human emotions, and the role each individual serves in society. Long story short, I became very philosophical, and actual developed an interest in philosophy (I even regret never taking it in high school). These are two relatively simple examples of how Saturday Scholars impacted my future education. Thanks to Saturday Scholars, I am now considering opportunities I never gave a single thought …show more content…
I would like to begin my answer by stating I am an indecisive person. I change my mind more than a politician does. Anyway, at the moment, I currently see myself pursuing a career in marketing with my post high school degree. I have always be fascinated and even entertained by marketing campaigns, from television commercials to print advertisements, and I am greatly interested in the psychology behind advertisements. A marketing agent is essentially one who studies human behavior in order to best sell a product, and, with a little work, I could easily see myself both enjoying and succeeding in a career within this field. Another career I could see myself pursuing is a biologist. I love science, and biology has always has a special place in my heart. The idea alone of testing and creating new scientific theories puts me in a state of euphoria, so, needless to say, I am interested in biology. There are other careers I am considering, and, like every other student, my tastes will surely change. At the moment though, I like the idea of a career in marketing or biology. Thank you for reading, and thank you for Saturday

Seattle University’s Jesuit teaching makes this college one of my top choices. My approach to education is eerily similar to Seattle University’s mission statement. I thrive best in an environment that focuses on educating the whole person through academics and spirituality. Since faith is a key component of my life, I want an education that views intellect and faith in a complementary way. Combined with Seattle University’s emphasis on community service, I will also learn how to make an impact both locally and globally. As I grow into adulthood I want to push myself. I also want to find new ways to make a difference in my surrounding community. Through Seattle University’s various service programs, I can nurture that goal.…
