SPECIFIC | MEASURABLE | ACHIEVABLE | REALISTIC | TIMELY | To Achieve a good understanding of nursing and medication calculations. | To revise and practice nursing and maths calculations . To undertake the Nursing Calculations exam implemented by the trust. | To organise sum sheets, and ensure clinical practice allows me to dose and check prescriptions and medication ( under supervision) . | The goal is reliasitc as I have ample opportunity in practice. And a number of internet sites , and books available to support your practice in medicince and dosing calculations. | This is achievable and the time frame of five months is realistic. | To safely and confidently be able to understand and adminster medication. | This will be measurable as superiors in clinical practice will ensure I have enhanced my knowledge and clinical skill in drug administration. | In order to undertake this task, I will have to complete a set number of tasks and workbooks after I have achieved 95% in my Medication exam. | The course is undertaken in units, which have to completed and verified. The course is measurable as you pass and demonstrate your competency through understanding units and completing the unit correctly. | This type of course will require me to use the NMC, Medication Code for Nurses. It will also require me to use the BNF. Both of these resources will enhanve my skill in practice. | The goal is realistic as I am able to take at least eight months. Its a long distance course, and gives me insight through reading and revisting medication reactions , medication drugs for various body systems. | This will be achevieable around three to four months of completing my nursing diploma.
