SCAD Letter Sample
I’m writing this letter to the admission committee of SCAD in order to explain my unsatisfactory performance I had in several classes throughout my high school career in hopes to give insight into why my letter grades turned out the way they have.

I’ll have to admit I’ve always had issues with academic performance throughout my high school career, and frankly I was not surprised, yet distraught that I was asked to submit a letter of explanation. I have always gotten great pleasure in learning new ideas and concepts, and for the most part enjoyed public school and what it offered and taught me. My sophomore year is when id confirmed that I suffer from depression and clearly showed its symptoms. I had difficulty concentrating, remembering details, and feelings of hopelessness and pessimism. One of my main issues in school was simply not turning in assignments due to lack of motivation; I have changed this since then and been very proactive with the betterment of this issue. In the past year I have realized the absolute importance of forming good habits before graduating and being thrown into the real world. With this newly formed outlook I have made it my top priority to turn in all assignments and be much more aware of due dates by now habitually using a calendar and to-do list to keep track of my assignments and responsibilities. Touching back on the issue of my depression I have as well made feats in bettering my disorder by filling up my schedule while still leaving adequate time for school. Some of the things I have done are, joining a rock climbing gym to climb competitively and in turn earned myself employment to the gym, I have as well have become an avid cyclist and have become much more social and continue to have my schedule full. I have improved tremendously from the mind state I once

This letter is to appeal the suspension of my financial aid for the 2008 spring term. During the academic year of 2004-2005 (Spring and Summer 2005), I was enrolled in a total of four classes, Intro to Business, African American Life, Intro to Psychology and Concepts of Biology but did not meet the minimum standards for academic progress which has cause my financial aid to be denied for my current enrollment for the 2008 Spring semester.…

I have attached my unofficial transcript, and a picture of my recent grades if the pdf is unable to open. I understand that receiving a C in metabolism two will be in question as it does not reflect the academic performance expected of me. I assure you this will be my last unsatisfactory depiction of my intentions for pursuing a career in family medicine. I admittedly lost a part of my drive as I stressed over the reality of having a below average GPA and got caught up in the admission process. I was taking three classes over the summer while studying for the MCAT at this time, and juggled writing my personal statement which allowed me to express situations in my life I had never explained to anyone before. My metabolism professor was absent the first three weeks of class as she was on…

Ever since high school, I have struggled with school. After graduating high school, I graduated with a 1.7 GPA. I always knew I was an average student, so I accepted my GPA proudly. However after entering college, everything changed. I knew everything was going to be more difficult and demanding. Beyond all the hardships of academics, I was also going to have to pay for all of education by myself, because my parents could not afford it. This adversity made it extremely difficult for me to decide if I wanted to continue my education and enter college. However, despite my finical struggle I decide to continue my education and apply for college. I applied to Rockland Community College, where I wanted to work on increasing my GPA.…

The depression sparked in tenth grade. It swept me into an ominous and obscure path to shame, calamity, and unresolved traumas. My condition was undiagnosed and untreated, so my behavior remained the same. I developed unhealthy relationships and feelings for individuals who could not and would never respect or appreciate my existence. In complete conflict with whom I wanted to be, who I saw myself as, and who I was, I found myself entering the realm of emotional instability.…

I, Kourtney Brooks, am writing to you in hopes that the decision of me being ineligible for financial aid due to not maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.0 can be appealed due to extenuating circumstances. Entering into the spring semester, due to my performance in the Fall I knew there was a lot of work to be done. In the Fall, after being out of college for a few years I had to get acclimated to working and going to school full time, not to mention online schooling, which is something I hadn’t experienced before, but due to having to work to take care of myself I made the decision to try it because I know in order to truly excel in life I have to further my education. Nonetheless, I went into the spring semester a stronger student due to the mistakes in the semester that instilled the strength and…

There are several reasons that I did not perform well for the duration of my high school career. I am hoping that the Ryerson Admissions will consider the following reasons when evaluating my application to the Creative Industries program September 2016. I suffered mental stress regarding issues with my father, which affected my school attendance drastically; ultimately, this led me to suffer from depression. I was involved in high level competitive sports which I used as my outlet for happiness, unfortunately also contributed to my absences. Since leaving high school and taking the time to deal with my setbacks I have come back strong and more determined than ever. My marks now reflect my efforts in class and I…

Depression in a teenager can impair their ability to learn and connect with peers when in fact it is an important time period for their academic achievement and social growth. As a teacher, I have the ability to act as an essential part of my students support network. But doing so is easier said than done. It requires a deep understanding of many faces of depression and the strategies involved. I have been through tough times at my age as well so I can take that and turn it around into something great by helping my students realize that they are not alone. As a teacher I need to be able to recognize the signs of depression right away and act in a supporting manner. As Dustin explained it affected his grades first. I promise to myself that as a teacher that could possibly be dealing with this that I will check in regularly with the student to drive home the idea that someone does care about them and they are not alone. I could check in with them personally after school or lunch or over email whatever is convenient for them. My most important job is to develop a relationship with these students. By doing so I will express unconditional support, avoid singling out the students for criticism, being specific in providing feedback, and using positive reinforcement. I will aid their educational aid emotional development by encouraging them to draw or even doing something as simple as lowering…

My parents noticed my slow change of personality and eventually sent me to therapy; there I learned different ways to cope with everyday stress that can come from academics along with personal life. I was absorbed every piece of information given to me that allowed me to dismiss insignificant issues and view the overall picture. Therapy lasted for a year until I relapsed and was obligated to return until I desired happiness. Knowing how difficult it can be to admit that I occasionally need help to fortify myself, I ask for help when needed and am no longer afraid to reveal my candid nature to society and its judgements. Soliciting help enables me to take arduous courses along with achieving the grades I desire. Academically, I am in the top 1 percent of my class;…
