Round Rock High School
Observation Paper

Round Rock High School…
A school that has history, this school was established in 1867 and went public in 1888. Looking at RRHS when you first pull up seems like a descent size school with a modest old look. When you drive around the school it is expanded out much like a junior college and has a college feeling. There are 11 buildings on this campus not including their football field, track, marching band pad, baseball field and the amount of parking for both students and staff.
Parking is amazing at this school. Plenty of parking for staff and faculty in front of the main building as well as plenty in the back of the building. Student parking is separated from the staff

The teacher ignored most of what was going on and mostly focused on teaching what she was obligated to do for the day with no disregard to the students that wanted to learn. I found that there was a lack of classroom management for the same reasons as the climate. No assertion in rules, no discipline, no rewards, and not trying to get the class out of there cliques to work with others. What I learned from observing this class is to make sure there is always classroom involvement and to communicate with the students.
I observed a second Spanish (class level 1) and was blown away from the differences. I did however walk into this class by mislead information from the Assistant Principal telling me this class room was a German class.
This class was taught by a Mr. Castillo who had transferred there from Spain. The classroom was very well organized with additional books as extras to those who forgot there materials. Spanish alphabet on the wall, posters from Spanish speaking countries around the room, random vocabulary around the room to catch the student’s

He was very positive with them but had a lack of rules and boundaries for the students. I felt the students took advantage of this and used it to their advantage. When a student had given a wrong answer all students would call this student out and let them know there mistake. The teacher did nothing to stop the students and let the verbal bashing continue. While this continued he continued on with his questioning I believe to bypass the issue and stay on topic or to just ignore the issue still not sure

In the class there are 41 fluent English-speaking students and 23 ELL students. The ELL students are divided between ESOL levels 3-5. Mr. Rodriguez does not assign special seats assignments for the ELL learners; however, he suggests they sit with a battle-buddy. The battle-buddy can either be a student that speaks fluent English or has more experience in the program. The teacher’s desk is situated behind the students and all the student sit in rows. It is your typical teacher centered classroom, although Mr. Rodriquez never sits at his desk. He is constantly at the front of the class or walking around room. As for materials, Mr. Rodriguez has textbooks, leadership student handout booklets, video/audio, and the word wall. Since the materials…

Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. After she took attendance, she addressed that she had taken some privileges away from the students because the students did not picked up their mess after having centers and would not follow instructions that the teacher gave. She explained that centers might return for the upcoming school year if they behaved properly. After she addressed the issues of the students, she instructed everyone to go back to their desks and waited till they put their thumbs which meant that they were ready for the lesson of the day. Mrs.Metcalfe went up to the front of the class to use the projector and expected her students to follow what she was doing on their worksheets.…

Overall he feels that the teachers are great. However, there are times that he feels that teachers are making assumptions about his involvement with his children. They do this without knowing what is going on at home. He is a single dad of 5 whose family has struggled with poverty, drug abuse and violence in the neighborhood. He is trying hard to exclude the negative influences from around the neighborhood and worries how his children react to seeing the violence. He knows the importance of being involved in the classroom. He sometimes feels that he is not welcome in the classroom and once experienced a teacher questioning why he was there.…

There were two Caucasian students, seven African-American students, and six Mexican students. Mrs. Brodie was the teacher and Ms. Johnson was the teacher assistant. The classroom was large and there was plenty of space for the children to move about. The classroom structure was very similar to that of the 3-year-old classroom that I observed in my first field observation. There was also a carpet on the floor for circle time and the classroom was divided up into centers as well. The centers were clearly labeled. Some of the centers included reading, art, science, manipulatives, and blocks. As I stated before it was very similar to the 3-year-old classroom set-up. The classroom was filled with print and there were many different aspects of cultural references which included posters in the Spanish language and books that represented the different diversity of all of the students. The classroom was like the 3-year-old classroom amplified. I am thinking that maybe because the school is state funded that it why they do have so many more materials than a regular preschool classroom. The science area even had a telescope in the center. The children knew what it was and what it was used…

The second major issue with the school was the zero-tolerance policy. My previous schools had been bad in this regard, but this one took the cake. The teachers punished all 'crimes' equally, with several days in ISS (In School Suspension) where children would frequently get behind in their schoolwork. Dropping a pencil during a test and having the audacity to pick it up was met with the same punishment as pushing me down a flight of concrete stairs with a twenty-pound baritone. Usually, in my class of twenty-four to twenty-six students, at least four students would be gone every day due to minor in school suspension infractions.…

Today is my first day of observation at Hinojosa EC/PK center. The time frame that was given to me to obverse was from 8:30am to 11:00am in a bilingual classroom who belonged to Mr. Villa who was awarded the teacher of the year. Sitting in and observing this classroom of nineteen students I could see exactly why he was awarded as the teacher of the year. Taking on the responsibility of teaching a bilingual class is not all that simple, there are several routines that were done over time to have the children learn in short and small intervals. When the class first began by greeting the class and asking what month and day it was, some routines are noted and differentiated by different colors, songs and actions the teacher chooses to use in a…

Second, the majority of students in the SJCC complained that the school's parking lot is too small, and it makes them no place for parking, often what you are going to SJCC soon they had plenty of space for parking. For some people home away from being late to send the car out of college, it's very dangerous because parking outside the school is not safe and it will affect the focus on student learning. To solution this situation the college should expand parking for students even if the area does not allow the school campus to hire one parking lot near the school for students to help alleviate this situation.…

My opinion all the things the author described on his story have a good part on how teachers and students learned from each other. Sometimes its hard to help another if they don't want to be help. Culture, attitude are a very important part of a student and a teacher among other important things but for me those two can help a teacher and a student learned from each other and have a well environment.…

The first class that I taught was on Wednesday 17th October. The class was a double period and it was for the last two periods of the day. My co operating teacher miss Rodney was present as well as my supervisor Miss Perez. I believe that the class went well and I was able to achieve the objectives I set out to do in a reduced time period. There was a delay in starting the class because the teacher wanted to take roll, and I was waiting for students to come into the class to begin. I lost about 10 minutes waiting for the class to start and during this time…
