As a result of the clubs’ history, they have taken a stand on their affiliation with the Christian faith and America’s traditional inherent standards and beliefs. In their club code they state “I believe in God and the right to worship according to my own faith and religion. I believe in America and the American way of life…in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I believe in fair play, honesty and sportsmanship. I believe in my Boys & Girls Club, which stands for these things.” Their code, although only a short few sentences, has a strong and traditional…

After being a part of Key Club throughout my high school years, I learned how to give back to the community that has raised me and the conspicuous impact I can have in someone’s life simply through volunteering. Through Key Club, I help create service projects with local organizations and give members of our club an opportunity to volunteer and give back. One experience I will never forget is helping set up a blood drive in school with one of our local organizations, Bloodworks Northwest, a local blood bank that helps saves lives through research, innovation and education in blood. Our Key Club had to inform the school of the event that was happening, and encourage students to donate blood. It required hours of creating posters, informing the…

Beta Club is an academic based club for students who meet proper expectations set for GPA’s and character. In this club we raise money for the school and participate in a plethora of community service activities. HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is an organization committed to the knowledge of all things medical. In this club we host blood drives and other community events, some of which help fund our trips that we take to compete in district level competitions based on our choice of medical category that we individually specialize in. HOPE 4 A CURE is a club I specifically admire because we are constantly raising money for deserving causes that we get to witness change lives. For example, a young boy that goes to my church who suffers from random seizures and was in need of funds, this club helped raise a portion of the money that would allow him to get the proper treatment he needed at a research facility in Boston, Massachusetts. Lastly, I am a part of the Math Club; our main objective in this club is to raise enough money to provide three seniors in the club with scholarships based on the amount of money raised. The seniors chosen are based off of the need of financial aid and their overall character. Aside from this, the club also provides an environment where people with a common love for math can come together and learn more about…

Just like all the ads around us, it seems as if we are beat over the head with the idea that success comes from distinction. Time and time again, we all hear this notion that if you want to “break though” the clutter, you have to be different. It’s easier said than done with billions of ads around us. So, where did this all start? We have learned about the days when people would paint their street signs in hopes to be the best barber shop in town. Well of course, with little competition meant great business. Unfortunately, we have grown to live in a world full of competition, for jobs, more money, better education, etc. Now take a step back, the people behind selling you all these things are competing for your attention too. Who is the going to sell you the best education, the best food, where is the best place to get a great job? It’s an all around circle of who can get whose attention. In light of all this information we deal with day in and day out, James B. Twitchell has taken us back to the roots of where our advertising comes from. There were groundbreaking advertisements that opened the door to evolution and change. In his book, “20 Ads that Shook the World”, we are taken through this history and story of our past. Everyone thinks advertising is just the cousin to the creepy used car’s salesman, but there is a rich culture behind what we do that no one knows about! It’s not just people sitting in conference room thinking about how to get your money, ok, well maybe it is, but it’s not what society makes it out to be. Their ignorance comes from a lack of education. Twitchell’s 20 ads are a plethora of information and as he retells the deep history rooted back to the “good old days”, he tells this story in hopes of enlightening those with a preconceived notion.…

The Boys and Girls Club of America helps thousands of Americans each year as a daycare, escape from home, way to meet new friends or to eat a sustainable meal that they wouldn’t be able to get at home. Another way that the Boys and Girls Club benefits kids is by having organized sports where the players can develop competitiveness, teamwork and become coachable. As someone who volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club I am able to experience all of the good that goes on both within and outside of business hours. As I wrap up my high school career and go on to the next stage in my life I often find myself looking back at not only those who helped shaped me into the person I am today but also the extracurricular activities I participated in. The Boys and Girls Club is one thing that continually pops into my head with the activities I partook in as well as the children and adults alike, without these experiences I would not have devolved my love for basketball, been so willing to give back to the community, or have been showed the do’s and don’ts of parenting.…

Dickenson County's newest middle school, Ridgeview Middle School, is often thought of as a jail house, but when one is in the Bible Club it is a very different place. A great activity that is offered by my school is the Bible Club. First, Bible Club is a huge stress reliever. It reminds me of a stress relieving massage that I have seen many people get. Second, it gives me a lot of motivation to live a Godly life. Last, we go a lot of field trips to share the word of God with others. As can be seen, at my school Bible Club is one of the greatest activities that is offered.…

Good evening fellow board members, thank you for allowing me a chance to speak to you tonight. Our goal for this organization is to provide this community a place for kids to come play sports and learn about teamwork. I want to present a proposal to you tonight that will be expand on our goal and beneficial to our organization and our community. This non-profit organization uses both rhetorical and symbolic means of galvanizing its membership. Rhetorically, the Boys and Girls Club has celebrated its volunteers and members alike. In the artifacts shown, the Club has verbally and publicly celebrated the people that make the organization great.
