The story of Romeo and Juliet is about two teens who are unlikely lovers that fall in love and cause a whole lot of trouble in their lives. Their families are rivals, Juliet belongs to the Capulets and Romeo belongs to the Montagues. In the beginning it starts off as a secret relationship that seems to be going along fine but then quickly turns for the worse and people start to die and get banished. Romeo and Juliet both end up committing suicide for a number of reasons. Friar Lawrence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he married them, came up with the plan that led to their death, and did not carry out the plan right. “If thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself, then is it likely thou wilt undertake a thing like death to drive away this shame. If thou darest, I can give thee remedy”. In this quote the Friar is talking to Juliet after she threatened to kill herself saying that if she has the strength to do that, she has the strength to carry out another one of his plans. Friar says that he can come up with a potion that can slow her heart till it is almost stopped so it looks like she is dead. Then she will be put in the catacombs where Romeo will pick her up and go to live in Mantua. Well the truth is he was not responsible for Romeo getting banished but he was responsible for Juliet's suicidal thoughts. If Juliet was not married to Romeo then she wouldn’t be crying over him and wanting to kill herself. Also it was not the Friar’s fault that Friar John could not deliver the message but he should have taken it upon himself to deliver it.
