Rolla Allouch's Bias Against Muslims Aka Islamophobia
This article is about an interview of Rolla Allouch, a 36-year-old Muslim Cincinnati lawyer and an American Muslim civil rights advocate. In the interview, Ms. Allouch talks about the concerns about the issues encountered by Muslims while flying, such as being seen as an object of suspicion and a threat due to the tragic events that was caused by individuals rather than the religion. Such as being forced to leave a flight because of dressing in a certain way or speaking in Arabic. These issues are major concerns and important because it represents a bias against Muslims aka Islamophobia and it's risking their lives and limiting their freedom and rights. A quote that demonstrates this is, " But even when you know your rights, you’re

Counterterrorism is a practice that is very necessary in order to continue the American way of life. When we think about Counterterrorism, what comes to mind is preventative measures against terrorist attacks from countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq or simply the Middle East. After 9/11, we became suspicious of people who did not look American. This is a very difficult characteristic to ask for because America is made up of many types of people. Americans do not have an “American Look”. In my paper, I hope to delve into the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) focusing on the United States Citizens Immigrations Services (USCIS). Both agencies work in deterring Terrorism in our country. By exploring the roles these agencies play in securing our borders, we will have a better understanding of what also needs to be done to maintain that security.…

    Zeitoun Analysis

In the novel Zeitoun was charged for looting and put in jail however he was put in jail and had his human rights wrongly violated due to post 9/11 fear throughout America. Zeitoun, as a result, was forced to strip naked and was called a “Taliban” while he was in jail because of their generalized opinion of Muslims, believing that Zeitoun was naturally associated with a terrorist group. The book ultimately highlights how Muslims are looked at differently. This concept is so important for students at Mills High School to read, for it teaches students about islamophobia. Muslim people all over the world face issues about their race everyday and it hasn't stop. Even at our school, students are looked at differently if they wear a hijab. But students at Mills should look past the fact about islamophobia and just look at students who are muslim the same as everyone else. It also teaches students not to “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” meaning it doesn’t matter how the person looks it really matter how the person acts or what’s inside. This is just one thing that us high schoolers should learn before we walk across the stage to shake your…

While it is not touched upon in any great detail in To Kill a Mockingbird, it is one of the key debates in the upcoming elections. Of course, no one says that it is about religion; they claim that they are fighting terrorists, protecting the country, etcetera. Republican front-runner Donald Trump has recently issued a statement saying that America should ban all Muslims from entering the country. According to CNN, “Trump, who has previously called for surveillance against mosques and said he was open to establishing a database for all Muslims living in the U.S., made his latest controversial call in a news release. His message comes in the wake of a deadly mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, by suspected ISIS sympathizers and the day after President Barack Obama asked the country not to "turn against one another" out of fear.” Donald Trump: Ban All Muslim Travel to U.S. - CNNPolitics.com." CNN. Cable News Network, n.d. Web. 10 Dec. 2015. People are so fearful of different religions that they are not even willing to let them set foot in the country, in the land of the…

Evidence: When RJ Khalaf was in highschool he ran for student body president, people said he wouldn’t get elected because who he was, or what he believed in. When he was running for president one of RJ’s fellow classmates publicly shared online a hurtful comment, tweeting “If you vote for RJ, you obviously enjoyed 9/11.” Explain: People all over America were scared of Muslims after 9/11. Which resulted to those people pointing out everyone who looked, seemed, or acted like a Muslim. Rj for instance, knew that the terrorist didn’t share the same beliefs, and were not like him. But he also knew that a lot of people weren’t going to understand that. Link: RJ may have received racist comments, but he achieved his goal and became the first Muslim student body president at his high school. He also created a Muslim student association at his school to cover any hateful categorized things about…

The hate group that I chose to research was the Anti-Muslim hate groups in the United States. After the attacks on September 11, 2001 there has been a rise in the number of Muslim hate groups. The people in these groups see Muslims as “irrational, intolerant and violent.”(SPLC) They also believe that The Muslim community is a danger to America and its people. The Muslim hate groups suspect that Muslims are trying to convert American Democracy into their own law, which in most cases is Shariah law. Their hate for Muslims may spark major conflicts in the future but could also die off in the next few years.…

First, looking at the discrimination of Muslims in the modern world. The population, not only in the United States but in other countries as well, go through extensive measure to “keep the country safe”. All these people are doing is calling out people because of the way they live/their race, what their beliefs are and what they do for a living. We always seem to double check on people who don't quite ‘look American’ or they look as though they are of a different ethnicity from what we believe is safe. Recently, some amount of Muslims have been accused of being a terrorist just because of their appearance. Just like in this first article where a college student who majors in terrorism, crime and global security. He was studying more on his major in a public library, when someone had noticed his appearance and decided that they should question him about his thoughts on…

Those who are afraid of ISIS, Muslims, blacks, and immigrants overall are joining in to the resurgence of prejudice groups. The 2010s have been filled with white cops murdering innocent black men, as well as a growing fear of immigrants since 9/11. Much like the fear of communists during the Red Scare of the 1920s, modern day citizens have a growing concern for Islam/Muslim people; this even prompted Donald Trump’s executive order to ban immigration just this past weekend. Immigrants, of whom founded this country and its original principal, being restricted of their rights by a new leader of the United States, of whose beliefs and proposals border on racism. So, a few bombings in America during the early 1920s from communists instilled a hatred and underlying angst toward them and their government visions that was strong enough to fight back with more than protests, but governmental and military action. Violent, unfair actions have been seen by organized groups and leaders throughout history; time may change one’s opinion, but it never changes the actions enforced on…

In this day and age, racism and hate crimes are still huge throughout the world, especially in America. One of the groups discriminated against in America and Europe are Muslims and other Arab groups. Many Muslims were targeted, murdered, discriminated against, and have been considered “terrorists” since the 9/11 attack in 2001; many of these people were thought to be linked with Arab extremist groups and have lost their lives because of this. An example of discrimination closer to 2016 is the refusal of many people to help Syrian refugees hide and have protection from their own government. In World History, these people refusing to help would’ve learned that there are few countries in the Middle East and Asia that have been linked to any extreme groups in this area. There is a multitude of Arabs who do not agree with their governments and wish to escape in all of their willpower. People need to realize that not everyone…

Freedom is defined as the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint. America stands for this word freedom, it’s what American represents. But what happens to that freedom when the freedom that American gives to millions of immigrants each year is destroyed? On September 11, 2001 the World trade Center was destroyed by Muslim Terrorists. Thousands of people died and were injured. And millions of lives were ruined and changed cause of this tragic event. Since then airports have tightened up the security, and border guards are on high alert with the people that come in and out of the country by taking necessary precautions and what others think are unnecessary precautions by racial profiling. Racial profiling is wrong to some extent but the safety of the millions of people that live in America is far more important therefore, racial profiling people on airports and at the borders should be acceptable.…

Stereotyping and discrimination based simply on a difference in race are two things that are continually discouraged yet continue even today in the most recent of times. Since the wake of September 11, racial profiling in airports has been heavily enforced in order to ensure the safety of Americans. In several instances, the stopping of virtually all Arab or "suspicious" peoples has proved to be advantageous in that those incriminated intended on causing harm to others. Furthermore, airport security has done a superb job in pinpointing the true terrorist, any person of a different race. This twisted view of justice must be recognized and must be stopped. The "random" stopping of people before and after they board a plane not only violates that person's personal rights, but it creates an artificially induced hatred to a particular group of people as well as demonstrates the overall ignorance associated with racism.…
