The movie has borrowed certain ideas from the book but the soul of the movie is how the robots are enlightened and they achieve human qualities, how they develop emotions and can co-exist along with humans. In the book the robots are not violent as portrayed in the film where they violate the three laws of robotics and imprison humans even killing them which is unconceivable in the books. The character personalities exemplified by Asimov in his book is not stout however the movie has Strong characters portrayed by will smith, Bridget Moynahan as they play an important role in making the movie a 337 million $ box office
