RESEARCH TOPIC: ROBBERY IN UB HOSTELS

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

These research was carried out to provide the answers to the questions that are not answered like: what is the nature and extent of crime on the UB campus, what are the target hostels (boys or girls) of crime on campus and examine what makes them vulnerable particularly to the crime of theft, who are the key perpetrators of campus crime are, and what are the measures taken by UB management to curb the incidence of campus crime? There was a lot of missing data about the topic above, so it was very important for the research to be carried out to fill the missing information. The researcher was motivated by the fact that there was no research done in university of Botswana on robbery in UB hostels, so the motive behind was that this will be the first research done concerning UB on campus crime. Because this was the first research done there is no duplication of what is already done. The information gathered will be very helpful to the UB community and other researchers. The other important thing about this research can sensetise the UB community and staff to start coming up with more helpful strategies that can curb UB on campus robbery. The topic was
