Ristrictions on my life
Valley Forge Would I Have Quit?

Would I have quit? No I would’ve stayed and fought until the battle was won. Here are my three reasons why. To begin with 90% of our troops were still alive and fighting (Document A). Another point is that congressional congress came to help us (Document B). Furthermore we had willingness and contentment (Document C).

To begin with 90% of our troops are still alive and fighting (Document A). Only 10% of our men were dying so what we still have 90% of our troops strong and ready for battle (Document A). Also even though we were going through hell we still had positive mental attitude (P.M.A.) (Document C). Another point is we had a strong and dedicated leader who had our backs no matter how traitorous the battle (Document B). Also we had something the other soldiers did not have we had the spirit of aclarity. We had the motivation to keep fighting no matter what the outcome (Document C).

Another point is that congressional congress came to help us (Document B). Our great leader George Washington has given a plea for the congress men to help fund our troops. So we can get new supplies and medicine to aid the ill (Document A&B). Also we have a surgeon to service the sick and keep the healthy soldiers in tip top fighting condition (Document C).

Furthermore we had willingness and contentment (Document C). We soldiers will admit fighting for our independence is no easy win or walk in the park. We have went through hell and back just to make it this far. We have went through horrible weather conditions, terrible sicknesses, and worst of all lacked basic survival supplies but we were still content. We still had the willingness to get up and fight for our independence (Document A&B).

The American Army had seen hard times during the first two years of the Revolutionary War. They had been the victor in two battles—one in Trenton and one in Philadelphia—but other than that, it had not gone very well. (Background Essay) Because of these struggles, Washington had a hard time keeping his soldiers in the army since many signed up for only nine months and then left or simply deserted. This brings up the question: Would you have reenlisted for the army at Valley Forge? I most definitely would not have because of the illnesses, the government neglecting the soldiers, and the bad conditions that existed there.…

The first reason I would quit is because the British were considered the strongest army in the world. In Document A, ‘The Numbers’, it clearly shows that by the end of February, there were only 8,000 soldiers at Valley Forge, half of them ill. An army of 4,000 healthy soldiers, the rest ill, fighting off a strong army of tens of thousands of healthy, well fed soldiers has terrible odds for the Patriots. Yes, the British lost the war, but at the time, no one knew that! France ended up helping, but they knew that in April. Odds of the odds turning to my favor are slim, like one out of a million. If I'm smart, I'd already be out of Valley Forge.…

General Patton was being glorified by the press for his successes commanding the US Third Army. His favorite armor division, the 4th Armored Division, had blazed at amazing speed into Germany and was known as “The Point.” Their advance had earned them a Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation1. General Patton’s confidence in the 4th Armored Division and his own selfish motives would lead him to commit the greatest folly of his military career. Indeed General Patton stated regarding his campaign in Europe, “I know of no error I made except that of failing to send a…

The American army had a total of 14 shillings to get money, and the British had a total of 27 shillings to get money(prices offered Uncle Levi).Obviously the British had more shillings to sell, which means that the Americans won’t have as much of supplies as the British would. This is during the winter so you will need a lot of supplies to stay alive. I don't like how the American soldiers have less supplies than the British, just don't make sense to me why they don't figure out a way to have more than them, yeah the British have an advantage but that doesn't mean they can't try to have more than or be better than them.…

John Morton Blum retiree of Yale University depicts “combat soldiers as largely disconnected from the geopolitical goals articulated by President Roosevelt.” Each soldier had his own individual motivation entering into the war but all had the same reason to win the war, to make it home. Home was what encouraged the troops to fight. The Saturday Evening Post ran a series asking soldiers what they were fighting for, they were quoted saying “I am fighting for that big house with the bright green roof and the big front lawn”...“that girl with the large brown eyes and the reddish tinge in her hair.” Blum describes the GI as a homely hero, the common good man and the peoples' hero. The soldiers had no visible purpose but winning the war so that he could return to comfort.…

In the winter of 1777-1778 George Washington and his army set up a camp called Valley Forge, 18 miles out of Philadelphia. Terrible conditions and diseases came in and out of Valley Forge. Would I have quit Valley Forge? No I would have not quit because there is a lot of sick people but not of a lot of people are dying, Washington is getting help, and I don't want to be a summer solder or a sunshine patriot because freedom is worth fighting for.…

If I was at Valley Forge I probably would have stayed. I say this because I would stay true to my country/colonies. The things that the soldiers at Valley Forge dealt with was crazy but if it meant freedom I would do what is necessary. Some of the soldiers at Valley Forge did not have shoes, most if not all of the soldiers were starving and for me if i do not eat I can get really mad. If you think about it if I get mad when not eating than you know that they were mad.…

Was Dunkirk a moral victory or a military disaster? Firstly, let’s set the scene for this event. Neville Chamberlain had declared war on the Nazis eight months ago and currently there was a stalemate between both sides called the “Phoney War.” On May 10, the Germans launched a blitzkrieg attack on the Netherlands and Belgium. By May 15, they had already broken through the French defenses and started to head straight for the English Channel.…

LT GEN John Sattler and MAJ GEN Richard Natonski were the commanders of this operation. They were in charge of approximately 15,000 men. Going to war with another country is extremely dangerous. It’s even more dangerous when the people of the other countries have no regard for their own life. Meaning if they have to sacrifice themselves they will do that, with pleasure. Following the first battle, it was said that men…

The Battle of Kasserine Pass proved to be a shock both to American military forces in the field and to the American public at home. The defeat of the Allied forces in the battle put doubt into the minds of many. The defeat suffered by the Allies had nothing to do with right versus wrong, however, but was very much a product of a number of operational shortcomings on the part of the Allies (Carr). Poor logistics, failures on the part of American leadership, lack of unity of effort on the part of the Allies, the lack of combat experience, and inferior equipment all combined to contribute to the failure at Kasserine. Despite the setback at Kasserine Pass, the Americans proved quick learners and applied the lessons of the North African experience to the remainder of their campaign in the European theater.…
