The language they used to talk to each other was little foul because of the football culture that gets caught up. “It’s just a big misunderstanding, maybe because Jonathan and me talk so different” (Richie Incognito). Richie also said that he never was trying to hurt jonathan martin’s feelings and thinks Jonathan understands it.

Peck would describe this as problem as labeling and stereotyping. Labeling is “Categorizing people and thinking in a simpleminded manner, then making judgments on the basis of the assumptions we attach to these categories” (Peck 7). Richie Incognito was labeling

For example, in the beginning of the story when both Crash and Penn were in first grade, Crash knows that Penn is a vegetarian, so this is what he does: “That afternoon I was turning the channels. I came across the Phillies game. I snapped it off. I went to the refrigerator.…

South Park’s episode, “With Apologies to Jesse Jackson” played on many ideas such as racism, racial sensitivity, institutionalized exclusion of minorities, and the pushing political agendas. To summarize, the episode featured a man who was called, “nigger-guy”, because he said the racial slur, nigger, on Wheel of Fortune. He later went on to feel as if he was being treated badly because everyone was excluding him from events. His son was even affected by the actions of his father and almost lost an African American friend. This instance reflected the idea of “words are like bullets” which was often said throughout the episode by an angry midget. At school, a midget came to speak to the students about sensitivity in words; however the midget…

Furthermore, labelling is a major factor that contributes to an unequal society. Labelling is similar to discrimination as an individual maybe judged on an action that is not necessarily done by them, but an action that a member from the group or religion may have done in the past. Labelling can also be described as a preconceived phrase which is related to the person because of their background, such as an American maybe thought of as lazy. A second example could be that a single mother maybe thought of as lazy and on benefits.…

    | Stereotypes are often placed on the most innocent of bystanders, forced to take on a name or personality which in reality may not be anything like the actual person. Stereotypes are a major problem today and is displayed everywhere on the media such as television, radio and the Internet. Even I myself has experienced the awful event of being misjudged based on the way I spoke or talk. Although the judgment was unfair it was still placed upon me and it felt bad. There are many stereotypes such as white men can’t jump, Mexicans hopped the border, all French are mean, and many more. All of them are often placed upon someone unfairly. There was a time when I was at the store with my friends and everything was going fine when all of sudden two store security guards appear out of nowhere and begin to question me on my whereabouts. I was mistaken for a thief based on a report of black male but also I was stereotyped as a thief simply because I was a black…
