This movie is a true sports story. It’s listed as a documentary. This movie follows the guidelines, it’s a film that runs longer than 40 minutes and tells a story depicting true events. In the movie, coach Bill Courtney pushes his players everyday in practice so they do better and it pays off. He makes the players watch film on the next team they face in hope to help his team win. One of the team’s best wide receivers starts a fight in the locker room before a game. The coach kicks him out of the locker room, and tells the kid to go home. Since the kid was suspended he got yelled at by the coach, and his suspension went from only one game to almost a whole season.
One major event is the coaches decision to go to the junior high and recruit kids to go to Manassas High instead of other schools in the West Memphis area. Also the star left tackle has a partial tear to his ACL, and the doctor holds him out until the playoffs. Although he went through rehab fine the doctor didn’t want him to play the last regular season game.
During the movie time passes week by week. The story starts September of 2009 and the season ends around December. By the time the movie ends its a start of a new season. A commonly occurring scene is the team on the practice field and on the football field. There is a scene that shows the rundown part of West Memphis where a factory used to be.
I would recommend this movie if you are a person who doesn’t mind that it is not always in order. The movie also has some scenes extended to a small degree. There are a lot of scenes that show up frequently also. this movie isn’t all sports, so it would appeal to most. This is a PG13 movie because of some of the things the players say.
