Creative Writing: Speech Assignment
50th Anniversary Speech Hello everyone and thank you for joining me as I reminisce about a beautiful journey that began fifty years ago. It means so much that my family; friends, colleagues and students are here today to share memories with me. I have been teaching the third grade for fifty years and it has been a labour of love and a lot of sacrifice was involved. I would like to thank my family who have encouraged and supported me from the beginning of my career until this blessed day; I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful staff of this school that have made my teaching days memorable. I am here to say this is the end of this journey and it is difficult for me to make this retirement speech as I will be saying goodbye to everyone who has been part of my journey for fifty years. Over the years, I have worked with many wonderful people that have made a difference in my life. Time passes by like a shooting star passing the sky in just a blink of an eye; the last few years have been especially good for me. Through my years of teaching I have worked with kids from different backgrounds and kids with different beliefs. I have seen cases of bullying and I have helped my students with these problems. I enjoyed spending time with my grade three children, we read stories together and I have learnt a lot from them. At the start of my fifty years I was asked “why did you choose to be a teacher?”I answered that I like teaching and learning, I said being a teacher is a safe job and I like kids; my motive has still not changed. I am motivated by the successes I achieve with the kids and the joy I get from working with kids. This motivation helps me get out of bed with a smile on my face every morning knowing that I am going to a place where I find happiness. Once again, I would like to appreciate everyone present here today for their support over the years, most especially my family who have been my biggest inspirations. I would also like to thank the amazing staff of this school, the administration and everyone who has being part of my journey. I wish you all the same happiness I had being a teacher. I will be feeling sad knowing this school is no longer a place for me to spend my days.

If I put my mind to accomplishing any goal I could make it happen. Mr. Nunnaly inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. Through my childhood…

Becoming a successful teacher has been a desire in my heart for many years. As a high school student, I had the desire to enter the medical field. The turning point toward a teaching career occurred when I became employed with a small preschool as the three-year old toddler instructor. This job was extremely rewarding. It thrilled my heart to watch these small children grasp new concepts and develop throughout the year. The smiles on their faces when they learned to zip their coat, or say their ABC’s, or count to 100 was worth all the challenges you faced with a classroom of three-year old toddlers. Being able to see the glow on a child’s face when they succeed is indescribable and one of the reasons I want an education degree so that I can witness this experience daily.…

As long as I could remember I have always loved working with children. I began working with children in high school when I helped coach an equestrian team. It was not until my sophomore year of college that I realized I wanted to become an elementary school teacher. After I spent a semester as a practicum student in a first grade classroom I realized that teaching was my life calling. Following my graduation, I dove into graduate school to further study childhood education. After completing my schooling, I accepted a position at a Title 1 elementary school in my home city. After a year of teaching at this school I have realized in order to grow as an educator, I must be challenged in another county.…

I have always known that I wanted to become a teacher because many of my family members were teachers and ever since I can remember I was always the teacher when my siblings and I played school at the kitchen table. I have always had a passion to teach children and watch them gain knowledge and grow even when I was young. I went to a one room school house when I was in elementary and I was always willing to help the teacher with whatever she needed. Ever since then that is how I have always been. I love getting up in front of students and seeing their bright young faces and teaching them a lesson and answering their questions. It is a passion that I have always had.…

I want to be a teacher for several different reasons. I initially decided teaching was for me when I was in middle school. I had an amazing teacher that helped me through a lot. She made a huge impact on my life, and I knew then that I wanted to be able to do the same for other kids. I later went on to have children of my own, which gave me even more reason to become a teacher. And even with the economy the way it is today, there are actually a lot of opportunities for teaching given the wide variety of jobs a teaching degree can obtain. I also understand the responsibility that comes with teaching and that the job doesn’t end when you leave the classroom. That is why I respect the teaching field as much as I do. I know I still have a long way to go before I get to my teaching career but I feel it will all be worth it when I get there.…

Words don’t come easy to me when it comes to speaking on an occasion like this. I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to bid you farewell from your juniors. It seems like just the other day when we were all talking about our senior'sfarewell as they move on. I remember thinking that it would be hard to say goodbye ... and I was right - it is hard. Yet I consider myself fortunate to have met such a special person ... a person that we care so much about ... that it makes saying goodbye to them hard! As we say goodbye, we remind ourselves that farewells are not forever, nor are they the end. They are simply words to say that we will miss you dearly and that we will remember you fondly.…
