resort strategies to attract customers
Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy. It may also extend to control mechanisms for guiding the implementation of the strategy. Strategic planning became prominent in corporations during the 1960s and remains an important aspect of strategic management. It is executed by strategic planners or strategists, who involve many parties and research sources in their analysis of the organization and its relationship to the environment in which it competes.[1]
*Characrteristics of Effective leader
1. An Effective Leader is a Risk-Taker
An effective leader attempts to bring about great changes. These changes are not without risks. Facing changes and challenges, as we get older is a part of life. How we deal with changes and challenges reflects on who we are and how we will grow as a leader.
2. An Effective Leader has Self-control
Strong leaders know that their ability to stay calm, even in the worst of conflicts, is a character trait that must be nurtured and grown. The effective leader’s mantra is, “When you lose your temper, you lose.”
3. An Effective Leader is a Caring Individual
Strong leadership can never take place if those we lead think we do not care. Leaders should show a caring attitude about the mission of their organization however; their concern for each individual team member must take priority over everything else.
4. An Effective Leader is Modest
Self-evaluation is a strong characteristic of an effective leader. A good leader does not have a problem in being evaluated or receiving criticism. No one enjoys being corrected but an effective leader sees it for what it is: an opportunity for personal growth.
5. An Effective Leader is Balanced
A good leader does not ignore any area of their personal life. They understand that to do well they must keep up good health, physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally.

Ronald Heifetz and Marty Linsky’s “Leadership on the Line: Staying Alive through the Dangers of Leading” describes the risks that every leader experiences at one point or another. It explains how no matter what level of leadership you’re in, whether it be leading a small organization or a nation, each leader has internal and external conflicts that they must overcome in order to “stay alive” as a leader. Heifetz and Linsky go through the dangers of leadership by separating the book into three distinct parts. The authors discuss in the first part why leadership is dangerous and how people manage to cave in to the pressure involved with leading. In the second part of the book, there are ideas for reducing the risk of failure…

What defines an effective leader? An effective leader must be a person of honorable character, which develops over time. A person with strong character shows drive, determination, self-discipline, willpower, and nerve. To be an effective leader, followers must have trust and belief in their leader’s particular vision. One of the ways to build trust is to display a good sense of character composed of beliefs, values, skills, and individual accountability. Individual accountability is the first requirement for success in being a leader. Accountable people recognize that outside factors will affect their situation, but they also understand the choices they make about those outside factors are what ultimately shape their outcome. When they encounter setbacks, accountable people don’t point the blame. They analyze the situation, determine what they can do to recover from it, and then they do it. We all possess individual personal strengths. Many times, we may feel that certain personal characteristics are flaws. However, those “flaws” are really only flaws in certain environments. On the flip side of those flaws, we often find our greatest strengths. Maya Angelou displays how one turns a flaw into strength, and she gives a prime example of how one grows into leadership.…

To be an effective leader, I believe you must be able to put yourself in a position that sets you up for success and be able to motivate others to work towards a common goal. To do this, it is important to use the strengths that you have a high propensity to do well. You must also learn from past experiences of success and apply what worked well and avoid those that did not. Just as a kitten born in a stove oven does not make it a biscuit, a child born of a leader does not make him a leader. We must learn to lead, and to do so requires us to develop a leadership style that encourages success.…
