Residential Landscape Lighting Research Paper
Residential landscape lighting serves two functions- functional and aesthetic purposes. As a homeowner, design company, or a professional contractor, installing landscape lighting goes beyond adding some pretty lights; it is a valuable investment to the property. And it brings a return on the landscape investment to homeowners, most of whom are scarcely at home during the day except at night to behold the beautiful landscaping of the building.
Homeowners get to enjoy their investment when they step into the fantasy of light at night. In addition to illuminating the surrounding of the property, it also subtly shows off its exquisite beauty. It is an outline of security and style creating a strong visual presence for the property.

Throughout the entire film, candles were used to create the vintage feeling of the medieval time, but more importantly, lighting controls the atmosphere for every scene in the film. For instance, the scene when Alnaud went to Martin’s village as “the real Martin Guerre”, the house was lighted by candles with a warm and sweet feel. Another example would be when Alnaud and Bertrande walked on a empty field, two guy covered with straws showed up and stopped them since they recognise that Alnaud is not the real Martin Guerre. In this scene, the lighting is really dark, we can barely see the characters face. With the help of the fog, it creates a sinister feel, and also could be a foreshadowing for Alnaud and Bertrande’s ending. Yet another case happens near the end of the film just before the Alnaud’s death. Alnaud confessed to the whole village with a candle on his hand, different from the first example where candles create pleasant environment, this time candle provides a hopeless and heartbreaking atmosphere. It is very interesting that same kind of light source can also creates multiple mood depending on the progress of the…

A walk through your local hardware store will reveal a selection of hundreds of different designs from numerous manufactures. On a larger scale a search on the internet can be done to bring up thousands of different choices for a buyer considering making a purchase. For garden and pool areas shorter lights closer to the ground with less bulbs are available. For front yards and walkways there are taller poles with numerous lights around the top of the pole that are better suited for lighting larger areas. Searching the patent office for “light pole” brings up 28 different patents for all different aspects of light poles. These patents range from different mounts and bases all the way to different ways of reflecting the light. Even locally the trend for classic lighting by poles has become popular. To add a sense of illumination to both front and back yards many residents in the area have been adding light poles. Even closer to the Texas Tech University campus in the Overton area the influence of light poles can be seen. In fact, design guidelines for this area call for a light pole every 75 feet along walkways and 200 feet along roadways by the completion of construction. The importance of light poles spreads overseas as well, as the Weixing Lighting Co. Ltd. Exports products to North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. The notion that lighting is an integral part of the production of any piece of theatre is a given. The manner in which it helps to create the overall texture of this particular performance is what elevates is from a mere scenery to a pervasive element. On the other, more literal hand, it's always possible that the author just thought that the word "Night" was pretty cool and might kind of fit the story. Maybe he just had a publishing date to get to so he just looked outside and said, "Wow, it is dark outside. It's Night and I'm finishing this book. I might as well…

In the movie Casablanca directed by Michael Curtiz, lighting plays an integral part in displaying an underlying tone of what is being portrayed in the scenes. The lighting in the bar is consistently bright except when there is a spotlight focusing the viewer’s attention to a specific character. When we see the outside of Rick’s bar at night there is always searchlights roaming looking for criminals. In the Final scenes of the movie, shadows cover the eyes of Bogart letting us in on the darkness that he harbors inside.…

Now instead of using lighting in its physical form, Shakespeare used written techniques to create light and dark imagery to highlight change in characters. It is important to look at the significance of this technique, and the symbolism associated with it. Light and darkness usually have very definitive meanings in human psychology. Traditionally, light is considered "good" because it allows us to perceive the world around us and to work within it. Conversely, dark is usually viewed as "evil" due to our inability to see and the fear that such a state brings. Thus day and night, which are distinguished by the amount of light available, have similar connotations.…

This key component of film should have been more effectively used. The light in The Maze Runner could have been used to make the scene lighter or darker. Certain scenes were so dark that the viewer wasn’t allowed to see what was going on. Opposingly, in a specific scene, a glader notices something as the sun starts to set and the other gladers all rush over to go see what it is. The good majority of them have torches in an attempt to illuminate the area, but the region is already well lit because the sun is not all the way down. Then, a few seconds later, a group of them enter a field and it is completely dark as if the sun has been down for…

Royal Phillips was founded in 1891 when Gerard and Frederick Phillips purchased a factory in Eindhoven, Netherlands. They began their operations in 1892 producing carbon-filament lamps and other electro-technical products. In 1895 Gerard's younger brother Anton began working at the factory. With the help of Anton, the light wire bulbs he designed began to be produced in mass quantities, helping the company begin to expand. By 1920 they were mass producing cathodes and high output vacuum tubes for use in radios. Phillips did not just produce tubes and light bulbs; Philips was one of the first to build a radio transmitter and transceivers. On March 11, 1927 Phillips introduced the first nationally broadcast radio station ever, named PCJ. It could even reach as far Indonesia. PCJ is still on air in some countries, though it was primarily dissolved for more current media. With the introduction of PCJ radio, thousands of people around Europe began to use radios. Phillips radio division was ready to expand outside Indonesia and the Netherlands, but World War 2 had stopped all production with Germany’s occupation of the Netherlands in 1940. Nevertheless, Gerard and Frederick saiL.E.D. to the U.S. and made their business international.…

The entire story took place in one night so Lights are mostly emphasized in the story and obviously those are utilized to keep up the atmosphere but I think the lights have meaning in congruent with the night life and the things that always happen every night. Light is a symbolism that reveals the transactions happen in the dark such as prostitutions and night hang-outs (bars and disco places). It is said that light keeps the momentum and the atmosphere of the scene and in this film, it is utilized artistically.…
