Foster Care What is foster care and why would kids be placed in it? Foster Care is where minors are placed in a temporary home with a foster parent or parents. The placement is run through the government or a social service agency. “Most kids go into foster care or go to a foster family because his or her mom or dad has a problem with drugs or alcohol.” (“Foster Care”).“Other children are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect and placed in Foster Care.” (“The Future of Children”). People need to understand what foster care is and why kids have to leave their homes, before judging who or what the kids have been through. One thing you can do to help foster care would to become a foster parent. Becoming a foster parent can be a big responsibility. “Not just anyone can become a foster parent.”(“Foster Families”). I am going to tell a story about a real child that was in foster care and got adapted. A young boy tells his parent, “No stop that hurts.” The parent won’t stop. The neighbor hears cries from the young boy and calls the cops. The boy is removed from the home and placed in foster care. “The boy is now in foster care with two broken legs and has some bruises”. A loving foster family takes the young boys in and treats him as their own. The boy is having a hard time letting the family love him. He gets scared when someone stands up to quick or walks over and has a hand up. The boy thinks he will be hit again when he sees these signs. The loving family wouldn’t give up on him and after a while with the family he started to like them and started to like staying with them. The family loved him and wanted him to become part of their family. The loving family went to court and adapted the young boy. The young boy is now 7 years old and has a loving family that loves him. Adaption is a great option for foster parents that have no kids or want to help a kid that needs a
