Dreams coming true Andrew Stevenson dreamed of becoming a baseball star from the time he put on his first tee-ball uniform to the time he took off his high school jersey for the last time. Stevenson knew he wanted to play baseball for the LSU Tigers from when he was 7 years old. “When I went to my first baseball game in the old Alex Box Stadium, I knew that was where I wanted to play when I grew up,” Stevenson said.
Approximately 5 percent of high school baseball players go on to play college baseball. Stevenson joined that 5 percent after an amazing career at St. Thomas More High School.
Stevenson received a phone call from former LSU recruiting coach David Grewe one night during Stevenson’s last baseball season as a senior at St. Thomas More High School. Grewe asked him to be a part of the LSU baseball team and that they thought he could help their program. Stevenson said it was a “dream come true” and without hesitation, he verbally committed to play baseball for the LSU tigers.
Stevenson attended junior high and high school at St. Thomas More where he became the baseball star. He made baseball his first priority and it showed on the field. He showed his ability to hang with the older players and earned a starting position as outfielder for the 4 years of his high school career.
