Scaling Study The point of this study is to distinguish and recognize the different eating lifestyles and spending habits between male and female relating to eating for lunch while in the workplace. A short questionnaire of eight questions, which the interviewee developed, circulated to five male and five female in a controlled setting. I carefully calculated and analyzed the participant’s answers. The survey included two types of questions in the questionnaire. Some questions required a simple yes or no answer and others required the participants to respond by writing a numerical response. Through developing the questions the researcher made every attempt to develop the legitimacy of the questionnaire and the trustworthiness of the data collected. The survey questions were intended to increase the consistency of each answer that was given by the interviewee on the survey. Communication and interaction were incorporated by the interviewer and interviewee in the study research design. The interviewer’s duties conducting the survey were to ask the survey questions, document each individual’s response, and explain any questions that need additional instruction. The five male and five female interviewed in the survey were given the survey by person. Every survey participant interviewee was provided the same special instructions regarding the intentions of the survey. As a way of collecting accurate answers from each interviewee, which interviewees gave a response on their own and each provided information only for the questions that they thought they could answer. “Table 1” was information that was recorded from the female participants and “Table 2” was information that was recorded from the male participants.

    1. Researchers in this study examined the eating behaviors for four types of food. In order to do so, they were required to establish an operational definition to determine the measure of eating behaviors for the four different types of food. The researchers operationally defined eating behaviors with participant scores based off of a questionnaire involving nutritional knowledge, participant demographic information and attitudes. Ajzen and Fishbein’s formula was utilized to predict attitude using the sum of beliefs about outcomes of a behavior multiplied by evaluations of those outcomes. To calculate a total attitude score and the degree of association between the components, the individual attitude numbers were summed altogether. As well, the differences between groups of subjects were assessed. For any given experiment or study, it is of utmost importance that the measures used are considered to be valid and reliable. Validity is defined as the extent to which a measurement and a property are conceptually related. Reliability is the tendency for a measure to consistently produce the same measurement whenever it is used to measure the same condition. In this experiment, the measure of eating behaviors can be considered reliable and valid due to the operational definition set by the researchers; thus, I do not have any concerns with this measure to assess the eating behaviors of the participants of the study.…
