Rend Collective Analysis
During the end of my summer internship, I had the opportunity to listen to not yet released Christian genre musical albums. I was assigned the task of choosing songs for the company I interned with, Boundless’, podcast’s commercial breaks. I began filling out contracts for various companies representing the musical artists, in order to get permission.
I was more than happy to do this, especially when I got to listen to the fourth and newest album by my favorite band, Rend Collective. Rend Collective is a folk rock Christian band based out of Northern Ireland and their current members are: Chris Llewellyn, Ali Gilkeson, Patrick Thompson, Gareth Gilkeson, Bridget Herron, Stephen Mitchell and Will Herron.
While I am a fan of Rend Collective, I want to give my honest opinion of this album, because as with any album, there are both positives and negatives.

I was afraid the newest album would not live up to my expectations. Sadly, I did not like “As Family We Go” as much as “The Art of Celebration”. I felt that it was too similar in the musical stylings to that of “The Art of Celebration.” I think in order to come back successfully after a previous strong album, Rend Collective needed to do something different. I believe that “The Art of Celebration” was successful, because it was vastly different from Rend Collective’s “Campfire” album. As a band grows, it is important to show versatility in their sound and “As Family We Go” was too similar to the previous album and the lack of creativity to branch out to different instrumental music may have hurt

His tone and word choice made me feel as if I was listening to a friend talk about their concert experience and as if I was discussing one of my favourite artists with them. I absolutely agree with the author when he says that the Weeknd is becoming and international music sensation and he definitely reinforced my belief by stating factual information supporting his argument. In the future I would definitely continue reading articles by Nick Krewen because he often write about the topic of entertainment, something I have a genuine interest in, and his writing style is appeals to young readers like…

Though this album has a somewhat new sound and all new music, it very much captures the essence of their older albums, including Crash, showing the beautiful and influential songs that the group has been writing and producing for the last twenty-one years. One new song featured in the interview, “Gaucho” is about “[fighting] for what we believe in” among other important ideas. Other songs such as “Sweet” are written about less pressing issues that remain just as influential. As time has gone on, things have changed for the group, and that…

Although I am beginning to appreciate classical music more, I personally enjoy music with words more than music without words. When songs have words I pay more attention trying to figure what the storyline is behind the song. I am very into music all genres such as, pop, country, rock, reggae, and so on. I am open to listening to anything new, which is why I enjoy going to different music events such as this block party. Overall, I enjoyed this performance very much and I am glad I got to see such a great band perform for free, thanks to Utica College. I wish I could have listened to more but I am glad I got to hear a few musical selections before the event was…

As a society of composers, songwriters, lyricists and music publishers, we know very well that there are many steps between creation and compensation: months, if not years, can pass between the creation of a song, its recording, its release, its performance, and the day when the revenues due to the writer actually arrive. A music creator is like a small business, and ASCAP insists to ensure that music creators are paid promptly when their works are performed publicly. Some of the many other ways in which ASCAP can help writers include workshops, showcases, our website and publications, and an exclusive, tailor-made benefits package that includes health and instrument insurance, a credit union, discounts on musical accessories, travel and much more. ASCAP is committed to nurturing music makers throughout their…

Imagine, if you will, a world where we are told what music to sing, what music to play, and even what we may listen to in the privacy of our own homes. That world already exists as a reality in more countries that you might imagine, and that very reality is knocking on our door: In the USA, lobbying groups have succeeded in keeping popular music off the concert stage, out of the media, and off of the shelves.…
