Reflective Essay: A Story Of My Search
Story of My Search

When Mrs Gamble introduced the I-Search, I already had an idea of what I wanted to do, though, not a clear one. I became excited when Mrs. Gamble was explaining the process of the I-Search, I was also trying to forget about everything my brother told me and enjoy it. After doing some thinking, I decided that I would do my research on concussions since concussions are common in the sports I play. I wanted to know not only how to prevent them, but the diagnostics and symptoms. I took quality notes and found dense sources to back up my notes. Then, I hit a fork in the road.

My research materials had gone missing so, starting from scratch was only option. I got intimidated and started rushing through taking poor notes from unreliable sources knowing that the notes done before took too long. managed to turn my project in to Mrs. Gamble. I realized that I forgot to write a search journal and didn't include my printed sources which made me stressed. Mrs. Gamble did the checkup and when I got it back, it was no shock that I had gotten a 27/60. Disappointment is the only emotion I felt. I very rarely do that poorly on assignments.Thankfully, I got the opportunity to redo that checkup and gather everything I needed to ace the second checkup. It just so happened that I was assigned this right before break. After completing the work late at night, I turned it in the next day. It was greatly improved. This time I had a 57/60.

I decided that I wanted my Spring Break to be fun, so I put it off until school got back in session and I absolutely had to do work. That wasn't the smartest idea after all. I got stuck the night before the first draft of our paper was due taking notes and finishing up on some unfinished

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

I had to plan ahead in order to make sure that I accomplish the assignments for this class while still attending the board meetings for the organizations I was a part of. By looking at my Participation paper I was there for a majority of my class days and the only reason I missed class was because of really bad allergies and when I received bronchitis for week and a half. By going to class I was able to get tips on how to make my work better and how to accomplish the tasks given to us better thus making it less stressful for me to finish the project meaning I was more likely to finish the project earlier than the time given to us. When I realized that going to class and doing my work before the due date made me less stressed out I tried my hardest to always finish my work in all my class on time making me have a less stressful week. Another example of my improvement in this area is when we look at my Communication improvement profile paper written in the beginning of the year. I wrote the paper the night before and really didn’t look at the rule brick on how everything needed to be organized. When looking at this paper I followed the rule brick the best I can and wrote this paper before the due date allowing me to continually correct the grammar mistakes I have made and other problems that could have been found in this paper. Taking…

As a requirement for graduation from my high school, I had to do an assignment. The assignment was a health project that was a month long, which you had to do an essay and a presentation with a power point. What you had to do was convince your class to change a law that is present now in todays seciaty. In doing this assignment, I experienced scarcity in many ways. The problem I was having was, I was scarce of time. At the the time, I was traveling a lot with my soccer team all over America for showcases and championships. This set me back so much because I was not doing the assignment when I was over their. I had a lot of time to finish this project, but because of everything else I had going on in my life, I really only had five days to complete a month long project. Thids scarcity led to do me doing worse on the assignment.…

The semester started off the same as most. I go into it telling myself that I will stay caught up this time. I won’t allow myself to do assignments at the last minute. As usual these promises are quickly broken. I work eight to twelve hours a day and six days a week most weeks, so often when I get home, the last thing I want to do is homework. This means putting everything for most of my classes off till Sunday. A habit I have sadly been in for the better part of my time at Gateway.…

As I disappointingly see my grades on canvas I tell myself that once I get home from school I will finish my homework and papers almost due before work today. I have four quizzes and two excel worksheets to work complete. I have three hours and a half to finish these before midnight. As I’m done with my first quiz I decided to take a little break so I take a glimpse at my phone and decide to watch just an episode of “Vampire Diaries” and next time I know its 5 o’clock and I’ve watched four episodes of the show. I just wasted all the time I had to finish my homework and now I have to finish it after work which I get out at 9:30 pm. There was no way I would finish on time with good scores.…

My senior year was made very difficult and stressful because of procrastination. This was a research project that was to be worked on over the whole. It required a mentor, interviews, a paper, a certain amount of hours, and a final presentation. I got the paper done in a short amount of time and figured I would be okay for a while. A while turned into waiting until the last three weeks of school. I ended up never getting a mentor but I finished the hours and the interviews, but it was very close. The stress I put my self was not worth the trouble. Also the end result did not meet my prior expectations I had for myself. I knew I could have done a lot better if I had rationed my time better, but I did not so I got the grade I deserved. This topic relates to a lot of things because in my opinion if you procrastinate on almost everything which I did, I believe you…

The abilities an individual possesses are an accumulation of their previous life experiences and the various competences which have been practiced for many years. Often times, these skills are overlooked and taken for granted as we never actually think about them in terms of their effect on our potential career choices. After thinking about my personal skills, I compiled a list which included; communication, cooperation, patience, listening, helping others and perseverance; all skills which I have possessed for majority of my lifetime and have used to overcome many challenges. One example in particular which required me to draw on many of these skills, was fairly recently; I am a dance instructor for children ages four to seven and there was a young boy who joined the class later than the rest of the students. I noticed that he was struggling…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

I was trying to recover from the bronchitis, but with how busy my schedule was it was near impossible to get some well needed sleep. Because of my exhaustion from the previous week, it was hard to push myself up again to continue working hard. My workload seemed to also pick up because of how much further into the school year I am getting. I completed my homework just as I did the first week. Which was at the last minute, but before the day it was due. Although, I did schedule more study times and when to do my homework than I did the first…

hen I first arrived into the walls of Northwestern High School as a freshman, it was a new experience for me. Adapting to a new atmosphere was a big change in my life. From being use to Elementary, and Junior High Schools standards I had to critique my whole lifestyle. In doing this, I had to change the way I thought, my morals, values, timing, academics, and most of all my behavior.…
