Reflective Account On The Writing Process
Reflective account
Before starting this unit, I did not think about my writing skills or did not know everyone has a writer's identity. Initially, I did not realise emailing or texting a friend would be considering writing. I just saw it as a way to socialise with others. Having read subject content, I now understand when I construct email I consider my audiences, reflect on my writing and also editing, which are stages in the writing process as Cremin and Myhill (2012) explain. Additionally, I have discovered that participating in personal writing has helped me to develop and nurture my creative literacy. Furthermore, the personal writing task has helped me learn how to employ strategies to produce a creative piece that expresses my inner thoughts and feelings. Having applied myself

This was evident in my creative writing piece when I appeared to be in dialogue with myself, which Britton (1982) suggests are an interpretation of a writer’s emotion and experiences. Having analysed my own writing by rereading my work aloud, editing and redrafting, I now feel my writing flows more smoothly, and I can use appropriate tone and tenor (Grellier & Goerke’s, 2014). This knowledge will be useful in the classroom as I have gained personal insight into the importance of promoting sufficient time to engage my students in the writing process. Loane (2016) claims teachers who nurture their own literacy can help guide and support students to take ownership over their own writing. This understanding is important to me as a teacher I now have more confidence to co-learn and model the writing process to my students in order to engage them in writing. Because I am not yet mastered my grammatical and structure skills of writing, I will need to continue to read a range of multimodal literacy and take part in writing challenges to prepare myself to become a more proficient writer, which will help me to model effective writing skills and support my students to

I have learned that revising your writing makes it way better than before. You find your mistakes and realize you can replace words such as “bring to” to a different high vocabulary word such as “cease”. I know now that there is no way to make your paper perfect. There will always be a word, words, or sentence you could change. In addition, I’ve gained a better understanding on passive and active sentences. Once I was done writing my paper, and began to reread it I found some passive sentences. All I did was revise the sentence which helped my writing flow better. Initially, I read the first paper I wrote for the Quarter 1 Writing Assessment and I noticed that I didn’t follow the directions completely. As I read on, there were many simple sentences and not many transitional words.…

Coming into preparing for my paragraph I had three goals; make a strong a valid point, answering all of the possible questions a reader may have, and having a structured well developed paragraph. I wanted to maitain these goals throughout the writing process. I had to do minimal research becasuse I was familiar with the topic. There are three reasons why I chose to write about the qualities it takes to be a firefighter. First, I was able to choose the topic that I was most comfortable with. Second, I knew a lot about the efforts it takes to becoming a firefighter. I had a lot of outside information that most people would not get by simply using google. Finally, I felt for the first time, that I organized my writing in such a way that the message was clear and my opinion was supported with facts and life experiences. By doing this parargraph, I learned that it was important to have an organized outline, facts that support my position and details that enhance the message. It was a very long process for online one single paragraph but it allowed me to get several peer edits and other peoples opinions to make it an exceptional reading. Allowing my peers to look at my rough draft and make corrections or suggestions was a great and simple way for me to enhance my brain into creating structure. It also allowed me to interact with my classmates and brain storm. Overall it was well drawn out process and beneficial experience. I was able to maintain my goals throughout the process and learn some new techniques and develop them into my writing.…

Over the course of this year in English, I think my writing process has excelled the most along with my overall writing. In the past, I have used similar techniques to develop a final essay, but, this year, I have begin to rely more heavily on planning out and slowly chipping away at my essays and papers. I believe also that because of this planning the strength of my writing as a whole has grown. Personally, I do not think that I grew in my vocabulary usage. Overall this year, I grew as a writer in ways that I would not have predicted.…

In school, we have been required to write many papers on many different subjects, some being timed and others not. Writing has never been something that has come easy to me, especially when put on the spot and told to write a paper in a certain amount of hours. When I write, I like to have time to think and plan my essay. Being able to revise and edit the paper makes it even better than it was before. When I am given the time to plan my essay, the writing has more depth than when I am put on the spot and have no time to think about what will go into my paper.…

My Writing Process Writing is a process that came about because people believed that it was critical to record what was happening and being created at that time. Many people view writing as a formal and elaborate form of communication, when in reality, writing is just an extended form of speech. The stance I take on my writing is that when someone else reads my work they should hear my voice and envision me reading the paper to them. Because of the philosophy I have on writing, I avoid the formal process that includes 13 multi-layered steps.…

Core value 1 says, “Writing is a multi-stage, recursive, and social process”. The first part “writing is a multi-stage process”, basically implies that there are a lot of steps in creating a well-written paper. There is a lot of pre-reading needed in order to gather information and better one’s understanding of the topic being discussed. For example, for essay one I had to read different articles before I began writing and then do a pre-writing in which I discussed my readings. I found myself effortlessly adding details from those articles into my paper. Another way writing is a multi-stage process is that you must write multiple drafts and get them revised until you create your final draft. This brings us to the “social process” aspect of core value one. Whenever a draft is finished, the writer must speak with different people in order to gather different opinions about their paper. The writer may also speak with people before writing the paper in order to gather different opinions on the topic being written about. One example of this is discussing our topics we wrote about in class. “Writing is a recursive process” implies that each time I write a paper I take the same steps. I do pre-reading, pre-writing, summarize my pre-readings, and eventually write the paper and get it revised until I complete a final draft. With every essay I wrote in comp 1 came pre-readings assigned by my professor. After I read those I eventually wrote a summary and incorporated those readings into my essay. After finishing the first draft, it was revised by peers and eventually by Mr. Han. I repeated this process for each essay I wrote.…

My Identity as a writer has developed and grown throughout the Language and Literacy for Teachers unit through acquiring further knowledge of the processes of written composition. This knowledge has come from the readings given in the unit but also from the weekly writing tasks in the Writer’s Journal. The Writer’s Journal has given me the opportunity to explore my creativity in writing and become familiar with different forms of text and their composition, forming my identity as a learner-writer. I was most certainly not a writer before I started the Language and Literacy for Teachers unit. Since starting the unit I have become a learner–writer and developed my knowledge and skills.…
