Reflection On English 111
English 111 is the first college English class I have taken, but despite that I feel I would be able to bring a lot into this class. First of all, I enjoy writing and reading, so I am enthusiastic about my work. I love to learn, which means reading textbooks is not a problem for me (especially ones on grammar; I own a few of those myself). When I write, I try to be as objective as I can, and although I may have opinions I find that I can easily put those aside to write an unbiased essay. However, when writing a persuasive paper, I am able to fully support the cause I am writing about, whether or not I truly agree with it. Lastly, I am a helpful person and often one who is called on to assist my peers when necessary. I am a quick leaner and take good notes, so helping others is often an easy task for me, but when I cannot be of assistance, I do my best to help them find someone who will help. …show more content…
I have attempted to do this before, but because I have never had a class that focused so much on writing, it has been difficult. I feel that this class will be a good one to practice those skills in, as I will have many writing opportunities as well as many people who will aid me. Next, I would like to improve my grammar and learn the more intricate details of grammar that I do not currently know. My last goal is to learn what wording and writing style to use when, such as who merits a more professional style and when my writing can be more

I believe that the major objective of English 111 is to practice different substantial skills that will help you increase your writing abilities. These skills will prepare students when they’re expressing thoughts, feelings, viewpoints, and information orally or on paper. In my opinion, the most important central concept communicated in the syllabus is the Course Schedule. I will constantly be marking off the assignments that I have already completed so that I know which ones I have left to complete. It’s extremely important to be well organized and to always keep up with when the work is due. If you get too far behind, it’ll end up being too much work to catch up on. Being proficient is key to success in this class. The only question that…

Truth be told, it’s been a few years since the last time I walked into a writing extensive course like English 1302. The last time that I sat in front of a computer, and slaved away for hours trying to create the perfect paper was in 2011, during my first semester at Texas Tech. It was English 101, and people had that it’s a class that I should not take lightly, but of course I thought I knew better. Let’s just say that I figured out, I was not the greatest writer in the world after all, but high school definitely made me think I was. Before I entered into my first semester of college level English, it was not unordinary for me to write a paper that received applause from teachers all the way through senior year. I wrote essays on books, such as the “The Great Gatsby” to critically breaking apart poems. One assignment that I remember vividly was my critical summary over Robert Frost’s Poem, “The Road Less Traveled”. Alas, those easy days are gone. Most of my time now is spent typing up emails to staff and teachers. Since I have been enrolled at Texas Tech, I have worked in Texas Tech’s School of Law in the Administrative Office. Much my work is behind a screen typing up emails. It has taught me a lot, so I feel as though I’ve become pretty proficient when it comes to writing up formal messages or relaying information in a professional way. I believe that I have a decent amount of experience when it comes to my writing abilities, and hopefully that will continue to grow throughout my time in this class.…

English 1101 was not like I expected. I came into the class thinking this was going to the hardest class I have ever taken. Turns out that the class was one of the easiest subjects I have taken this semester. There were only a few essays that had to be written which was good and bad thing at the same time. My grade was pleasing considering the fact that I am only a sophomore in high school. The class will be every beneficial in the future; when it is all over I will appreciate taking the course. While the structure of the class was not put together well, the English 1101 class turned out to be manageable.…

Privacy is perhaps one of the most personal issues in today’s society. Privacy is an intensely personal issue, and perhaps not only to the right of the individual to dress the way he or she desires, worship in any way he chooses, but also to expect that those rights be protected by the government that upholds them. At one point or another, every individual in our society has asked the question, “Is privacy in the 21st Century possible?” The answer lies in the exploration of what privacy really means, and what privacy issues society faces in today’s modern, informational, and digital age of what we call the 21st Century.…

When it comes to writing papers, I usually have a difficult time getting started. I sometimes have trouble with certain topics, getting the general concept, and then turning it into a writing that will get my point across. I feel as if I’m not very creative with my words as I should be without sounding so scattered brained and lost. I was a little nervous when entering English 1102, after having such a difficult time in English 1101 online. At first I did feel at ease but once we got to doing research on a particular food and the articles, I did have some challenging moments. In in the end I did pull my works together and I plan on sharing some of my reflections while taking a look back on a couple of my papers.…

I learned two major things about my writing skills during this class. First, when presenting an essay for peer review, make sure that it is not a very rough draft. Second, the types of essay styles can change easily when writing. Even though my paper is supposed to be expository, using certain words and tone can create a totally different essay style.…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn.
