Reflection Of Critical Thinking
We were given an understanding of what critical thinking is, Critical thinking means a reason judgement that is well logical and thought-out it is a way of a person’s thinks in which you don’t simply acknowledge all arguments and conclusions you are exposed to but to take a different approach and have an attitude involving questioning such as arguments and conclusions. It requires wanting to see what evidence is involved to support a particular argument or conclusion. During the class, we were given an article to read, it’s about alcohol marketing. At the end of reading, we were given our point of view of what the article is about, we came up with answers such as, the evidence supporting the article was vague, no links required to back up their claims the journalist used a lot of technical things which is confusing, it is contradictive as well. The journalist who wrote this article is unknown they have not provide a solid argument due to lack of research and evidence. Later on, we start to discuss what is reading critically, the class and I came up with some points for example, why was this text written? Is it bias? What prove do they give us? Is it valid? Do they have a strong argument? These were the things we were discussing, however I feel that I did not fully understand what the information was presented therefore, I went to the library and I have picked up a booked called- Critical Thinking Skills: Developing Effective Analysis, this book has further my knowledge about critical reading, I have learned that main goal of critical reading is to recognise and comprehend the author’s purpose, to fully understand the tone and persuasive elements and to recognise bias. We also further discuss about arguments and how we can
