Raising Minimum Licensing Age
The proposal to raise the minimum licensing age from 16 to 18 should be rejected for a number of reasons. For one there are no statistics that prove 16 year old drivers are responsible for accidents, so it wouldn't be fair to penalize them. Also, for most young people, the use of a car is a necessity.
Before the legislature makes their decision they should think about why 16 - 18 year olds are in more accidents. I personally think it is because of lack of experience. If a study were made, I would predict that it would show all new drivers tend to have accidents. Raising the minimum licensing requirement would only raise the age of the people involved in accidents.
