Racial Profiling Persuasive Speech
The fast paced, growing world that we live in today has so many things that are hidden. But now a days they have been opened to the people and talked about more. I can remember one thing that my grandma would always tell me,”things that happen in the dark will always come to light.” Racial profiling is the thing that has been the national topic. Racial profiling refers to the targeting of particular individuals by law enforcement authorities based on their race or ethnicity but not by their behavior or if they did any wrong. I believe that racial profiling towards black individuals by the police and or white individuals is wrong and it should stop. This is shown through the many of events that has been over the nation. There has been lives taken from this. The police are the one who do most of the racial profiling and they are the one who are taking lives now. There has been numerous accounts that we can call murder that has happen by the police of america. August 9, 2014 in Ferguson, Missouri, a 18 year old black male named Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer, after he matched the description of the person who robbed a convenience store. The police followed him and ended up in a little altercation. Officer Wilson fired 2 shots one grazing Brown's thumb and the other missing him. When they did get him they did the normal procedure by asking him to put his hand in the air where they can see them. He continued to do so. Officer Wilson continued to fire shot after shot and ended up shooting Brown 6 SIX TIMES! These shots instantly killed Brown. Officer Wilson stated that Brown tried to reach inside of his vehicle and take the gun away from him. When Brown was 153 feet away from officer Wilson’s car. Officer Wilson didn’t know that there was people out watching the whole thing go into play. One thing that officer Wilson didn’t use was his brain. He just automatically seen that Brown fitted the description of the person who just had robbed the convenience store.

Garner was standing outside minding his own business and 2 police officers walked up on Garner. The 2 officers stated that they seen Garner sell a cigarette to a girl who stopped and talked to him. Garner has been arrested two previous time for selling cigarettes without using the New York state tax on them. This time was different. He didn’t sell anything to the girl, he was just having a conversation and the police just took the situation, twisted it, and all hell broke loose after. Garner began to get hostile and upset because he felt as if they were picking with him. This wasn’t the first time he had this issue with the police. After Garner becoming enraged the police attack him to try and arrest him. Garner started to resist. Officers put him into a chokehold, and applied pressure to his chest seen in the video that was . Garner pleaded for a breathe 11 times. The pleas wasn’t enough he ended up saying his last few words “I CAN’T BREATHE.” This act of violence has caused many, many, many more problems.
The major part about these tragedies are seen as that they’re targeting blacks. The black people of our nation feel as if they are being targeted by the police so they will begin to think that it’s time to fight
