1. A) Assume that you are siding with the VP of operations, and list the arguments for implementing TQM Total quality management provides a solution for Reliance Control Systems because it is an organization-wide effort to improve the quality and success of a company. It is focused on continuously improving the organizations ability to design, produce and deliver higher quality products and services (Kelchner & Demand, n.d.). It is essentially a comprehensive system that encompasses the various aspects that make up a business, such as, all departments, employees, suppliers and the customers. This is very important because this approach to quality management does not limit itself to specific functional areas making it increasingly more effective for the organization overall (Goetsch & Davis, 2013). When developing and implementing total quality management an organization will experience both short and long term benefits to the organization’s operations, work environment, finances and marketing position (Kelchner & Demand, n.d.). These benefits include a decrease in costs, wastage rates, delivery times and increases in productivity, profits and market share (Kelchner & Demand, n.d.). As well, customer retention and loyalty rates will increase as the quality of the organizations products/services improves. Also, through improvements in quality an organization will be better equipped to break through to new markets and enhance its current position (Kelchner & Demand, n.d.). In addition to these benefits, total quality management has been shown to positively impact employee satisfaction within an organization (Powell, 1995). This is largely impart to improved working processes and environments that require individual employees to work together as a team to complete the organizations goals (Powell, 1995). From an improvement in employee satisfaction an organization will likely experience a positive culture change that is positive and friendly natured, then that of
