Qualities in a friend
We come across new people each and every day. Many of them become instant acquaintances and some of them bloom into friendship. Friends play an important role in a person’s life. Finding out who someone really is can be a very difficult thing to do. It takes lots of time and dedication to realize who’s truly there for you and who is not. A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are. Friendship to me is a gift without the expectation of anything in return; instead the reward is the friendship itself. The main components of friendship are honesty, trust, compassion, and sharing similarities. In a friendship relationship, honesty is the most important trait one should have. Honesty includes both sides remaining truthful, sincere, and frank to one another. An honest friendship is when someone can ask for advice and not have to worry about if their friend is telling the truth or not. Being sincere with friends can not only help you communicate with others, but it can also help you make more friends and make your social intercourse skills become better and better. Honesty often leads to trust. When you know a person is completely honest with you, it can help you trust the person more. I personally have really bad trust issues so it can be extremely hard for me to trust anyone and this is why my circle of friends is extremely small. I believe giving someone your trust is very valuable and trust should be earned instead of being taken advantage of. Compassion involves feeling moved by others' suffering so that your heart responds to their pain. When this occurs, you feel warmth, caring, and the desire to help the suffering person in some way. Having compassion means that you offer understanding and kindness to others when they fail or make mistakes, rather than judging them harshly.
