Pros And Cons Of Keeping The Right To Bear Arms
Who Should Keep Their Right? There has been and still is a lot of controversy on the second amendment which is the right to bear arms. Everyone including the government has their own interpretation of what this amendment means. I personally do not think that there will ever be a complete understanding about what “the right to bear arms” actually means and what is and what is not considered the right or wrong way to go about protecting oneself or just having a sense of security. All people are different, have their own beliefs, and have different opinions on what this amendment can interpret too. In the case of Don Bennet who was arrested for firing at two thieves that robbed him, I think that it was ridiculous that he actually got arrested and the thieves ended up getting away. I don’t think passed felons or certain people should have a gun, everybody can claim that they only have it for safety but I don’t think that people use it the way they should. Some people are very dangerous with a gun and abuse the power that they may feel because of it. I don’t think that people that have been in jail pertaining to having a problem with a gun should own one or have access to one. There are people that when given a gun, they have a sense of power. And with that power, they might think that they could just go around and do whatever they want. Like in the case when a child uses a gun to get his stolen bike back. His father gives him a gun and tells him, “Consider it yours…” (Eric Pooley Kids with Guns). And when this child has this gun, he ends up using it to get a stolen bike back because he feels that he has the power to do so.
