Argumentative Essay: Do People Have Rights For Themselves?
How can a person live without having rights for themselves? We started off fighting for the rights we have today back in the slavery. I think to myself how the United States would be if the people didn’t fight for rights. The most important rights in my eyes are freedom of speech, right to bear arms, a person shall be held under a fair trial of peers. Freedom of speech is very important because I feel like people should be able to say whatever is on their mind and not be ridiculed. For example a teacher at Kenwood academy was suspended for speaking his mind on the internet via YouTube. He was speaking on religious things which should have not been a problem. Right here in Illinois there is a case about the right to bear arms. State law barred "anybody of men, other than the organized militia of the state and the troops of the United States, from associating as a military company and drilling with arms in any city or town of the state. They stated in the Presser V. Illinois “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." I think that some people shouldn’t have the right to bear arms. Because if they are not in the right state of mind you could pop off on anybody. Why not try and stop the people from getting guns illegally. I would never actually think that some people would get the right to carry and then actually kill people without somebody threatening them. People that are actually getting this bear to carry right are felons and they were convicted for having a weapon and using it for bad reasons. As a country we can’t let this law be passed because just like somethings we pass they won’t have rules for the person but a
