Argumentative Essay School uniforms are becoming a popular trend amongst schools. Students and even most parents don’t agree with the enforcement with school uniforms. In this paper I will present the argument towards school uniforms. Yes, uniforms limit what the students have to choose to wear to school every day, but it doesn’t limit them from learning. Requiring school uniforms eliminates the chances of bullying. Bullies usually pick on kids based on what they wear. But what happens when they are wearing the same thing. It leaves less room to get picked on. Some kids are very specific about what they are comfortable wearing. Some are sensitive to certain materials while others are just opposed to restrictive clothing. Having uniforms in schools also erase the defined line of the social classes. Everyone would be wearing the same brand of clothes from the same stores. Nobody would be able to determine what social class a person is in just by looking at their clothes. Some children are also uncomfortable wearing certain styles of clothing. Many girls, for example do not like to wear skirts or dresses, which some uniforms require. But schools that require uniforms look more formal and well put together. Schools with uniforms have a the students dressed nicely in the assigned uniform. Overall, school uniforms are a great thing to have. Even though this argument whether or not school uniforms violates the students right to self- expression will be never end. School uniforms are a positive thing, because they take away bullying opportunities, judging of social class and make the school look more professional.

Many people say that different types of clothing feel comfortable to different people. Some children are more comfortable in a specific material or style of clothing. Uniforms reduce ones ability to choose clothing that fits individual comfort needs. Experts believe that children need to feel comfortable in order to maximize learning, and that uniforms can therefore prevent academic success. Another problem would be if the school was required to wear ties. Wearing a tie would put an enormous damper on childrens ability to pay attention. Most students would spend a majority of their time situating and loosening their tie to the desired fitting. The sad part is that by the time it feels comfortable it is against the dress code and they find themselves in trouble.…

Throughout the years, there has been much debate with schools across the country on whether or not students should be allowed to wear uniforms. Through past experience with this argument, it’s safe to say that wearing a uniform is not a bad thing at all. Why? For one, uniforms stop other students from being judged on how they look, two, they save families money and students will not pressure their parents into buying clothes some families can’t afford, and lastly uniforms increase safety and security. So I do strongly agree that students should be able to wear uniforms.…

Uniforms would help the students lose the thought of competition or peer pressure. A lot of people believe that they need to be the most popular person in the school. That leads to a competition between other students for stupid ideas like, who dresses better? People actually skip school to avoid embarrassment about their clothing. Students would gain self-esteem from school uniforms because they would not have to participate in the “school fashion show.” Dressing alike makes the students learn that it doesn’t matter what is on the outside but what is in the inside.…

I feel as though there are a vast amount of reasons why school uniforms are necessary. School uniforms provide a professional and judgment-free atmosphere in school. Uniforms allow students to avoid the distractions of street clothing and the necessity of constantly changing dress codes to keep up with evolving fashions. Students have plenty of other creative outlets in school, such as writing, visual arts, music, and theater. Although it doesn’t give students the chance to individualize there self, in an atmosphere as such there is no need. The only individuality students really need is in their work ethic itself and I think that’s where society goes wrong these days.…
